Workshops were a part of the International Research and Promotion Conference "Warsaw Autumn as a Realisation of Karol Szymanowski's Vision of Modern Polish Music". Baltic Music Industry Conference

Director of the Polish Music Information Centre Mieczysław Kominek took part in the third edition of the conference "Baltic Music Industry" organised in Vilnius by Music Export Lithuania and British Council Lithuania. Two previous editions of the conferences were held in Riga, Latvia.

Innovations in the Field of Culture

Aleksandra Jagiełło-Skupińska gave a 20-minute presentation of the DMET Project at the annual conference "Innovations in the Field of Culture" from the series "Days of Music Marketing", which was held on 22nd - 23rd March 2007 at the Music Academy in Lodz, Poland. The paper was delivered to an audience of about 100. The text is to be published in the conference proceedings.

DMET Panel on the MIDEM

The DMET project partner International Music and Media Centre, Austria (IMZ) organised a 1.5-hour panel on "How to present yourself in Audiovisual Media and on the Internet?" at the World's Music Market MIDEM in Cannes. The panelists worked out guidelines for presenters, labels and artists to produce interesting media presentations about their issues and to cope with technical, media-specific and legal requirements.

Europe - a chance for culture

We were present at the conference "Europe - a chance for culture. Culture - a chance for Europe". The conference took place at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The organiser of the event was the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The conference participants discussed projects co-financed by EU funds in 2004-06, co-organised ad co-ordinated by Polish organisations and institutions, as well as the possibilities of obtaining financial support for culture from the European Union in 2007-13, both from structural funds and from EU programmes for culture.

In search of digital information

We took part in the 11th seminar on the "Digitisation of data storage", entitled "In search of digital information", organized in Warsaw by the Centre for the Promotion of Information Science. The seminar concerned such issues as digital libraries, copyright in the digitisation process, effective storage of digital data, and searching for information in the Internet's hidden resources.

We placed a two-page description of the DMET Project in Polish and English in the album "Culture 2000. Supported projects with Polish participation (2001 - 2006)", which was published in December 2006 by Cultural Contact Point, Ministry of Culture and the National Heritage (an issue of 4.000 copies).

Workshops in Graz

The project co-ordinator music information center austria held a 2-hour workshop during the festival "Elevate".
During this workshop, existing models for download platforms, web-communities and their opportunities for artists were discussed.

First DMET Conference
25-26.09.2006
The first conference held as part of the DMET project entitled "Music on Internet: Information - Promotion - Distribution" was organized by Polish Music Information Centre. The event was held at the Warsaw University in Warsaw. The presentations dealt generally with the following themes: the classical music online, making music files available on Internet sites, distribution of music files for promotion and sale, wav and mp3 formats. Papers were delivered by experts from Poland and abroad.

Training in Cracow

We took part in the training session on "The Possibilities of Co-financing Culture by European Union Funds, 2007-13" organised by the Institute for Regional and European Consultancy in Cracow. The theoretical part of the training included in-depth analyses of the EU cultural policy, EU structural funds for 2007-13, the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The practical part focused on ways of preparing EU Projects and filling in application forms.

The music industry reinvented?

Partners in the DMET project and members of the IMPALA (Independent Music Companies Association) organized in Brussels a seminar entitled "The music industry reinvented?". The seminar considered certain fundamental issues in music and new delivery services. The aim of the seminar was to examine how independent music companies could make the most of the opportunities presented by the development of the brand market and the resulting increase of new services.

The DMET project partner International Music and Media Centre, Austria (IMZ) organised a 1.5-hour panel on "Digital Music Distribution: the Hype Revisited" at the World's Music Market MIDEM in Cannes. The panel dealt with the existing models of digital music distribution, their influence on authors and the possible future developments of the music market.
