Warsaw | Laureates of the Koryfeusz award 2022 announced on the 13th of November!

The official gala of presenting the award of the Polish music community Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej will take place on the 13th of November, 2022 at 20.00 at the Warsaw Philharmonic. On the occasion of the Year of Polish Romanticism, the programme of the concert accompanying the event will be based on works from that period. Leszek Możdżer, among others, will present jazz interpretations of romantic music.

The statuettes will be presented in four categories: Honorary Award, Discovery of the Year, Personality of the Year and Event of the Year.

During the gala we will hear the band Vołosi, as well as the duo of Monika Wałach-Kaczmarzyk and Karolina Kupczyk-Deyl, the laureate of this year's edition of the Oskar Kolberg award ‘For merits to folk culture’.

Katowice | 10th International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki

The 10th Jubilee International Days of Henryk Mikołaj Górecki ‘Choros’, dedicated to the outstanding visionary, mystic and one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, is the largest and oldest event promoting his work, consolidating his place in Polish and international culture. This year's festival’s theme, which will take place at the Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice between the 12th of November and the 6th of December, 2022, is: ‘Concerts - premieres – multimedia’.

Performers are, among others: Dmytro Choni (piano), Negar Bouban (oud), Piotr Pławner (violin, conductor), Joanna Freszel (soprano), Mariusz Godlewski (baritone), Maciej Tworek (conductor), Yaroslav Shemet (conductor) and all ensembles of the Silesian Philharmonic.

The winners of the Corypheus of Polish Music Award 2022 announced!

On the 13th of November, the Warsaw Philharmonic hosted a gala of awarding the Corypheus of Polish Music 2022, organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance and TVP Kultura. This year, all individual awards went to exceptional women associated with Polish music: Agata Szymczewska, Anna Sułkowska-Migoń and Jadwiga Mackiewicz - winner of the Honorary Award. The 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition was recognized as the Event of the Year.

The Corypheus of Polish Music Award has been awarded since 2011 in four categories. The winners in the Personality of the Year, Event of the Year and Honorary Award categories were selected by the Electoral College in a secret ballot. The award in the Discovery of the Year category was chosen by the audience.

Applications for the 3rd edition of the International Competition of Polish Music are now open!

POLMICFrom the 9th of November, 2022, applications can be submitted for the next edition of one of the most important music projects of the National Institute of Music and Dance - the 3rd International Competition of Polish Music. The deadline for applications for pianists and chamber ensembles is the 15th of February, 2023. The prize pool of this year’s edition is EUR 100,000.

The International Competition of Polish Music promotes Polish music of the 19th and 20th century. The third edition of the event will take place from 2 to 9 July 2023 at the Artur Malawski Philharmonic in Rzeszów. 

The aim of the competition is to promote talented musicians who decide to include in their repertoire lesser-known works by Polish composers, especially works less frequently present in the repertoire of Polish and foreign artists. 

Six main prizes will be awarded in each category. In 2023, the prize of 1,000 euros will be awarded to a performance of a work by one of the following composers: in the Pianists category - Antoni Stolpe, Eugeniusz Pankiewicz (125th  eath anniversary), Raul Koczalski (75th death anniversary), and in the chamber ensembles category - also by Antoni Stolpe, Witold Maliszewski (150th birthday anniversary) and Antoni Szałowski (50th  death anniversary).

November 12, 2022 at 7.00 p.m. in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw, the concert of Sinfonia Iuventus will be conducted by Tomasz Bugaj. Violinists Roman Lasocki and Szymon Krzeszowiec will perform the solo parts. Free tickets are available for the concert! 

We will hear the seventh Violin Concerto by Grażyna Bacewicz, the Partita, one of the most important works by Witold Lutosławski and the symphonic triptych Eternal Songs by Mieczysław Karłowicz.

Warsaw | Stanisław Moniuszko in memoriam: on the 150th anniversary of composer's death

POLMICThe Moniuszko Music Lovers Society invites you on the 13th of November, 2022 at 19.00 to the concert ‘Stanisław Moniuszko in memoriam’, which will take place in the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio. The event, during which the premiere of Ignacy Zalewski's piece will take place, is part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Stanisław Moniuszko's death.

The Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, conducted by Monika Wolińska, will perform a piece by Ignacy Zalewski, Requiem in memoriam Stanisław Moniuszko, specially composed for this occasion, using sketches by Marcin Błażewicz, a composer who unexpectedly passed away without completing the composition commissioned by the association. The soloists will be Małgorzata Trojanowska (soprano), Agnieszka Zińczuk (mezzo-soprano), Jacek Szponarski (tenor) and Leszek Lorent (drums).

We will also hear the Funeral March by Aleksander Orłowski and the Concert Polonaise in A major by Stanisław Moniuszko, Lithuanian Rhapsody by Mieczysław Karłowicz and Perły Moniuszkowskie by Zygmunt Noskowski.

Zielona Góra | 'Weekend with the Independent' in Zielona Góra Philharmonic

POLMICOpera in a concert version, a chamber music concert and a piano recital are preparedby the Zielona Góra Philharmonic for the weekend of November 11-13, 2022. Artists such as pianist Szymon Nehring, the violinist Mateusz Makuch born in Zielona Góra, Polish singers as well as the Philharmonic Orchestra led by the director of the institution, Rafał Kłoczko will perform both well-known works and world premieres.

The climax of the event will be the concert on the 11th of November. For the first time, the opera by Albert Lortzing from 1832, Der Pole und sein Kind ("A Pole and His Child") will be performed in its entirety. In the second part the audience will be presented with „Flis” by Stanisław Moniuszko. In the solo parts we will hear, among others Szymon Mechliński - laureate of this year's International Vocal Competition S. Moniuszko in Warsaw, soprano singer Ewa Tracz, recognized locally and internationally, and Łukasz Konieczny, who triumphs on the western and national stages. The soloists will be accompanied by the Choir of the Grand Theater in Poznań, as well as the Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Rafał Kłoczko.

Opole | Independence Day concert

On the 11th of November, 2022 at 18.00 Józef Elsner Opole Philharmonic invites you to a concert on the occasion of the National Independence Day, which will be filled with Polish music. Prof. Edward Wolanin will perform at the concert.

The Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Przemysław Neumann will present the Overture to the singspiel Der Pole und sein Kind, in which Albert Lortzing quoted Dąbrowski's Mazurka. Then we will hear the Polish Fantasy on Original Themes in G sharp minor, Op. 19 by Ignacy Jan Paderewski for orchestra and piano.

The concert end with a symphonic poem Grażyna by Piotr Rytel, based on a text by Mickiewicz.

Wrocław | Faithful journey

During the concert on the occasion of Independence Day at the National Forum of Music on the 11th of November, 2022 at 7.00 p.m., Maestro Jacek Kaspszyk will perform together with the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic and the NFM Choir works by Roxanna Panufnik, Krzysztof Penderecki and Karol Szymanowski. The soloists will be Aleksandra Kurzak, Hanna Okońska, Agata Schmidt and Tomasz Rak.

Faithful journey. The Mass for Poland is a composition written in 2017–2018 by Roxanna Panufnik, celebrating the centenary of Poland regaining independence. The author's intention was to write a work in which she could emphasize the bond between her and her country of origin. In addition to the traditional text of the mass, the composer used also the works of Polish poets, such as Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, Bolesław Leśmian, Zbigniew Herbert and Wisława Szymborska. There are also references to Polish folk music in the piece.
