Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

Only until the 30^th September, 2022, composers can submit their works to the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition in the Composition category! The second edition of the competition will open up even more opportunities for participants. In addition to high financial prizes, the winners have a chance to give their careers a boost.

The winning compositions will be included in the repertoire of the performance competition, published by Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne and recorded on a CD.

Agata Zubel, Daniel Cichy, as well as leading European authors - Dutch composer and poet Rozalie Hirs and Yann Robin from France will be the jury members.

As part of the ‘Professional Artist’ campaign, the Association of Polish Artists Musicians promotes the signing of support for the Act on the Rights of a Professional Artist. It is an act co-created and accepted by a wide community of artists (artists, actors, directors, dancers, musicians, etc.). On the 5^th of May, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage directed the draft of the act to inter-ministerial and public consultations.

The purpose of the Act on the Rights of a Professional Artist is to improve the living conditions of artists in Poland, incl. by making it easier for them to use social and health insurance. The draft of the act was created as a result of many years of efforts by organizations representing cultural creators from all fields, which were a consequence of the debate initiated in 2017 by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the National Conference of Culture (OKK).

The costs of the proposed solutions will not be borne by the taxpayer, as they will be financed from the revenues from the reprographic fee and the fee on blank media (the so-called compensation for fair culture) paid by manufacturers and importers of electronic equipment.

The season inauguration of the Silesian Chamber Orchestra on the 23^rd of September, 2022 at 7.00 pm at the Silesian Philharmonic will be dominated by music of the Bach family - Wilhelm Friedemann, Johann Christian and Carl Philipp Emanuel. In addition to the Bach symphonies, we will also hear works of the 20^th and 21^st centuries and - obligatorily - the work of the patron of the Silesian Philharmonic - Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.

The orchestra will be conducted by Maciej Tomasiewicz, and the soloists will be Marek Nosal and Jakub Moroziński. The event will also be a prelude to the upcoming opening of the 8^th International Jan Edmund Jurkowski Festival and Guitar Competition ‘Silesian Guitar Autumn’.

On the 23^rd of September, 2022 at 17.00 the Polish Music Information Center POLMIC invites you to the promotion of Violetta Przech's book In the maze of imagination. Zbigniew Bargielski - creator and work, which will be held as part of the 65th ‘Warsaw Autumn’ at the Warsaw premises of the PWM Edition (Fredry 8 street). After the meeting, it will be possible to buy the book at a discount price, signed by the Composer and the Author!

The publication was released this year by the Musica Iagellonica publishing house. As Prof. Irena Poniatowska wrote in her review of the book: ‘This book is extremely important in musical literature, due to the topic itself and an in-depth analysis of the issues raised. It is devoted to the life, personality and works of Zbigniew Bargielski, whose creative profile has received neither many nor wider studies’.

The meeting with the author of the book and Zbigniew Bargielski will be conducted by Sławomira Żerańska-Kominek..

Between the 23^rd and 25^th of September, the 1st Festival of Elżbieta Chojnacka, dedicated to the outstanding Polish harpsichordist will take place in the Palace in Rybna. Admission to all events is free.

Participation in the festival is an invitation to enter the multi-colored and multi-stylistic sound world of the modern harpsichord accompanied by such instruments as soprano saxophone, accordion, cello and percussion. The festival events will include three concerts featuring works by Z. Krauze, T. Sikorski, A. Krzanowski, T. Kamieniak, T. Baird, M. Sawa, W. Glądys, S. Chojnowska, P. Grzelak, P. Stypułkowski, D. Strządała, Ł. Kurpas and I. Božičević.

There will be premieres of works by Leszek Kołodziejski and Roman Hyla.

All the concerts will be performed on a unique harpsichord built in 1982 for Elżbieta Chojnacka, an instrument inherited by A. Gajecka-Antosiewicz - the originator and artistic director of the Festival.
