Presentation of a new website dedicated to Roman Palester

Palester A newly launched website dedicated to composer Roman Palester will be officially presented at the Bogumił Linde Hall in University of Warsaw Library (55/66 Dobra Str.) on September 16, 2016 a 4.00 pm.

Roman Palester’s music is virtually absent from present-day musical life in Poland, which, considering its artistic value, is one of the painful paradoxes of contemporary Polish history. It has not appeared much in the panorama of Polish music (concert programmes, music records, critical reviews and musicological research) over the last 50 years, either. Interestingly eoungh, directly after World War II Palester was one of the main representatives of Polish culture abroad, and was regarded as the most eminent Polish composer, even – a successor to Karol Szymanowski.

New website (www.palester.polmic.pl) belongs to the series of webpages launched by the Polish Composers’ Union/Polish Music Information Centre, which are dedicated to the 20th-century composers.

Host: Piotr Maculewicz

Special guest: Prof. Zofia Helman

The presentation is the fringe event of the 59th International Festival of Contemporary Music "Warsaw Autumn" and will be followed by piano recital by Jakub Tchorzewski.

Admission free.

Organizers: University of Warsaw Library, Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC, University of Warsaw Foundation. Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the City of Warsaw.
