On the 30th of November, 2022 at 7.00 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Symphonia Celestium for soprano, tenor, choir, symphony orchestra and an interactive system by Aldona Nawrocka, lecturer of the University, will be premiered.
The idea of the work is related to the concept of heaven as a metaphysical and physical space, to which Dante Alighieri referred in his works (Divine Comedy and Letters). Dante ‘uses’ astronomy not only in terms of the precepts of medieval science, but also in relation to specific moral, philosophical and poetic problems. For Dante, the stars are optical representations of invisible realities, from divine providence to the workings of the human soul. Heaven is de facto devoid of sounds, but as a metaphor for the memory of earthly sounds and as ‘interplanetary noises’ it is commemorated in the work.
Planets of Gustav Holst will be performed in the second part of the concert.
