New year - new concerts as part of the "Polish Music Stage", organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance! On the 12th of January, 2023 at 6.00 p.m., the violist Katarzyna Budnik and the pianist Grzegorz Mania will perform at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Center in Toruń.
The concert opens with a late-romantic sonata by Wojciech Gawroński. We will also hear the Sonata-Fantasia in G minor, Op. 106 by Philipp Scharwenka for viola and piano.
The programme also includes the Sonata No. 3, written by Mieczysław Wajnberg in 1945. Version of the Sonata for viola and piano was recently recorded by the duo for the first time in Poland.
Interspersed between the sonatas are miniatures for viola and piano: Mieczysław Karłowicz's Serenade and Zygmunt Stojowski's Fantasy, both of a clearly lyrical character and varied harmony.
