String Quartet No. 3 by Paweł Mykietyn

Lutosławski QuartetLutosławski Quartet will premiere String Quartet No. 3 by Paweł Mykietyn on March 10, 2016 at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław.

The ensemble (formed in 2007), while performing mainly music of the 20th- and 21st-century composers, focuses on Polish repertoire and presents works by Witold Lutosławski, Karol Szymanowski, Grażyna Bacewicz, Paweł Mykietyn, Marcin Markowicz (member of the quartet).

Roman Lasocki i Przyjaciele na Okólniku

Roman Lasocki9 marca 2016 roku o godz. 19.00 w sali koncertowej Uniwersytetu Muzycznego Fryderyka Chopina w cyklu ,,Środa na Okólniku” odbędzie się koncert zatytułowany Roman Lasocki i Przyjaciele.

Wystąpi profesor klasy skrzypiec, poprzedni Prorektor ds. Artystycznych UMFC Roman Lasocki oraz zaproszeni przez niego goście: skrzypkowie Kamila Wąsik-Janiak, Małgorzata Wasiucionek, Szymon Krzeszowiec, Izabella Szałaj-Zimak oraz pianiści Bartosz Bednarczyk, Piotr Sałajczyk i Robert Morawski.

W programie: Witold Rudziński Ricercar sopra Roman Lasocki na skrzypce solo; Robert Schumann – I Sonata a-moll op.105; Maurice Ravel – Tzigane; Siergiej Prokofiew – 5 melodii op. 35 bis; Henryk Wieniawski – Fantazja na tematy z opery „Faust” Charles’a Gounoda op. 20; Alfred Schnittke – Suite im alten Stil; Witold Lutosławski Partita; Karol Szymanowski Taniec z baletu ,,Harnasie”.

Charles Richard-Hamelin z Orkiestrą Akademii Beethovenowskiej

Charles Richard-HamelinW ramach siódmego cyklu koncertów „Jeszcze polska muzyka” wraz z Orkiestrą Akademii Beethovenowskiej wystąpi wybitny kanadyjski pianista młodego pokolenia – Charles Richard-Hamelin, laureat II nagrody na XVII Międzynarodowym Konkursie Pianistycznym im. Fryderyka Chopina. Koncert odbędzie się 9 marca 2016 roku o godz. 19.00 w Sali im. Lucjana Lipińskiego Małopolskiego Centrum Kultury „Sokół”.

W programie tego wieczoru zabrzmią: Tańce polskie op. 4 nr 1-5 Juliusza Zarębskiego, Koncert fortepianowy f-moll op. 21 Fryderyka Chopina oraz VIII Symfonia F-dur op. 93 Ludwiga van Beethovena. Orkiestrę Akademii Beethowenowskiej poprowadzi Maciej Tworek.

Premiere of "Passion" by Rafał Kłoczko

Pasja - Rafał KłoczkoPassion by Rafał Kłoczko will be premiered on March 5, 2016 at 6.00 pm at St. John’s Centre in Gdańsk.

Libretto, based on Biblical texts, poems by priest Jan Twardowski and original texts, was written by Maja Baczyńska.

Piotr Paleczny – Piano Recital

Mistrzowie na Żoliborzu - Piotr PalecznyPiotr Paleczny, one of the most eminent Polish pianists, will give a concert on March 5, 2016 at Fort Sokolnickiego Art Centre. The programme includes works by Fryderyk Chopin.

Piotr Paleczny teaches piano at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He was a laureate and a jury member of the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. He also sat on the jury of many other international competitions, among others in Leeds, Paris, London, Dublin, Geneva, Prague, Moscow, Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, Montreal, Toronto, Tel Aviv, Kitzingen, Casablanca, Takamatsu, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis and Cleveland, where he was the first Polish chairman of the jury in the history of piano competitions in the USA. As a soloist he performed with renowned orchestras all over the world. He is the artistic director of the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój and International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz.

Chopin Concert at the Evangelical Augsburg Church

Chopin u luteran Przemysław Lechowski will give a piano recital on the occasion of Fryderyk Chopin’s birth on March 1, 2016 at the Evangelical Augsburg Church of the Holy Trinity (1 Małachowskiego Square) at 6.30 pm.

The Church is included on the list of Chopin’s places in Warsaw as the composer played its new keyboard instrument in 1825 and was a member of the parish choir. A classicist bulding, which was almost completely destroyed during the Warsaw Rising, was reconstructed to its original architectural design after the war. Since it lost none of its magnificent acoustics, it continues to be used as a concert venue to this day.

"Jazz Concerto" by Maciej Małecki

David Bowie i Philip GlassPolish Radio Orchestra and the soloists under Michał Klauza will premiere Maciej Małecki’s Jazz Concerto for piano, bass, percussion and symphony orchestra on March 6, 2016 at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio.

Polish Music Days in Poznań

Dni Muzyki PolskiejIgnacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań organizes Polish Music Days on March 1-3, 2016.

It will be the 3rd edition of the event, which has been organized since 2007. Its previous editions were devoted to music of particular composers – Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Sergei Prokofiev. This time students and teachers of the Academy will perform a number of solo and chamber works written by Polish composers. The repertoire ranges from classical compositions to 20th- and 21st- century music.

Music by Edward Pałłasz in Gdańsk

Edward Pałłasz Polish Chamber Choir directed by Jan Łukaszewski will perform Edward Pałłasz’s choral compositions on March 19, 2016 at St. Nicholas Church in Gdańsk (72 Świętojańska St).

The programme includes 7 compositions by Edward Pałłasz, such as Pastor et Magister, De Beata Virgine Maria ClaromontanaThree Mourful Songs, and Teach Me, Lord, as well as Et…  - a composition which is dedicated to the artsits and will have its premiere performance during the concert. The composer will be the special guest of the evening.
