"Personaggi: Euridice" by Andrzej Kwieciński - premiere

kPremiere performance of Personaggi: Euridice by Andrzej Kwieciński will be held on December 11, 2016 at Nowy Teatr in Warsaw.

"The starting point for writing this work was the myth of Orpheus and Euridice, however I focused on its "unsaid" part. The idea came mainly from my love of music of the early Baroque" - says the composer. The libretto was based on Georgics by Virgil and Metamorphoses by Ovid. Kwieciński, joined by French writer and theatre director Nathalie Gendrot, decided to give the choir a new role of impersonating the "absent" Euridice, instead of using its traditional, dramatic function (chorus commenting on the action).

The work will be premiered by Polish Radio Choir and Polish Radio Orchestra under the baton of Szymon Bywalec.

The concert is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage ("Composing Commissions" programme implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance).
