December 11, 2016 marks the 140th birthday anniversary of Mieczysław Karłowicz. PWM edition engaged in several projects aimed at promoting the composer’s output.
In 2016, PWM edition completes a long-term project, which - initiated in the 1980s - involved publishing works (op. 1- 14) by Karłowicz in 12 volumes. The editorial team comprised outstanding musicologists, music theorists and composers: Henryk Paweł Anders, Elżbieta Dziębowska, Wojciech Kilar, Bohdan Pociej, Łukasz Borowicz, Jerzy Salwarowski, Andrzej Spóz. The collection’s chief editor was Leszek Polony.
In the course of Karłowicz’s anniversary celebrations, PWM Edition launched another project held under the title "Let’s play Karłowicz", as a result of which 14 concerts with his music will be performed only in December all around Poland. The list of places includes Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, Henryk Wieniawski Philharmonic in Lublin, Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic in Łódź, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice, Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Krakow and other venues.
