Cracow | National Students' Scientific Conference "Elementi6 Performatics"

ElementiNational Students' Scientific Conference "Elementi6 Performatics" will be held between March 9-11, 2018 at the headquarters of the Academy of Music in Krakow (43 St. Tomasz street). The event, which will be accompanied by concerts of new music, is organized by the Students of Music Theory and Students of Composition Research Circles of the Music Academy in Kraków under the supervision of dr Ewa Wójtowicz and prof. Anna Zawadzka-Gołosz.

Permormance – this term is not very obvious and can be understood quite broadly. An example of this is new music, in which the elements of theatricality appear more and more often – even with the sounds itself or even above it there is a gesture, movement and focus on the body. In this context, "Elementi6" focuses on the role of the performer, who often is suddenly faced with tasks that are much more difficult than just performing or "playing" music. During the conference panels, papers on this subject will be given not only by theorists, but also by instrumentalists and composers, including Tadeusz Wielecki, Piotr Peszat, Marcin Strzelecki, Paweł Malinowski, Jakub Krzewiński, and Karolina Dąbek. However, we will be talking not only about issues related to the visual side – which is the main and probably the most important feature of performative works – but also about ways of notation, ideological themes, and finally about the impact of this type of media on the audiences.

"Elementi6" will be inaugurated on March 9 at 8.00 p.m. with the concert of Spółdzielnia Muzyczna band, who will perform, among, others, works of Piotr Peszat. The conference will be opened on March 10 and on this day the installation by Julian Gołosz, expression: non 2018, will be presented and three concerts will take place: recital of drummer Aleksander Wnuk (6.30 pm), electronic duet of Izabela Smelczyńska and Mateusz Śmigasiewicz (7.15 pm) and Elementi Orchestra conducted by Nadim Husni and Maciej Koczura (at 8.00 pm.), who will present compositions by Kamil Kruk, Monika Szpyrka and Tadeusz Wielecki. During the concert of students, PhD students and graduates of the Academy of Music in Krakow on March 11 at 4.00 pm pieces by recognized composers of new music, such as Tadeszu Wielecki, will be performed.
