Paweł Łukaszewski's Missa choralis for soloists, mixed choir and orchestra will be premiered on June 2, 2019 in Legnica, during the jubilee edition of the choral festival Legnica Cantat.
Paweł Łukaszewski (b. 1968) has a huge compositional output in the fields of choral and vocal-instrumental music. His works are distinguished by a rare simplicity, but also a great sense of expression. They are appreciated and willingly performed in Poland and around the world, by such ensembles as Kings Singers, BBC Singers and Trinity College Choir.
Missa choralis, composed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Legnica Cantat festival, will be premiered during a jubilee concert in the Evangelical Church of the Virgin Mary. The solo parts will be performed by: Aleksandra Turalska (S), Ewelina Wojewoda (A), Sebastian Mach (T), Michał Pytlewski (B). The N-Harmony Orchestra and the National Forum of Music Choir will be led by Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny. The concert will also feature Martin Palmieri's MisaTango – Misa a Buenos Aires, inspired by traditional Argentinian tango and Astor Piazzola's tango nuevo. In the finale, the organisers will announce the results and award the prizes in this year's edition of the Legnica Cantat competition.
