Gdańsk | 42nd International Festival of Organ, Choir and Chamber Music

The 42nd edition of the International Festival of Organ, Choir and Chamber Music will begin on 5 July and will last until 30 August 2019. The concerts will take place every Friday at 8:15 pm in St. Mary's Basilica in Gdańsk. Additionally, on Thursday, 15 August, at 8:30 pm a special concert will celebrate the Feast of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Ten concerts will feature artists from Belgium, the United States and Poland. Varied organ and choral repertoire will include works from all periods, written in different styles: from ancient masterpieces of organ music through the well-known classical compositions to contemporary music inspired by folklore and jazz. The programme will also included music by Polish composers: Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Mieczysław Surzyński, Feliks Nowowiejski, Jacek Sykulski, Aldona Nawrocka and Filip Cieszyński. In addition, the festival will premiere Ciacona for violin and organ by Bogusław Grabowski.
