Leszno | 5th Leszno Baroque Plus Festival

Leszno Barok Plus

The fifth edition of the Leszno Baroque Plus festival will take place between 25 August and 1 September  2019, featuring a dozen concerts and theatrical performances.

This year's events will be held in the Municipal Theater, the MOK Hall and the St. John and St. Cross. The programme includes baroque, romantic, ethnic, medieval and contemporary music, dramatic performances and pantomime. Warsaw Akt Theatre and Gdańsk Theater of Dreams will present their own performances. The festival will feature Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio, Tiburtina Ensemble from Czech Republic, outstanding pianists Lukas Geniuszas and Anton Batagow (first time in Poland), Capella Savaria from Hungary, singer and composer Agata Zubel with Warsaw Cellonet conducted by Andrzej Bauer. The Amadeus Orchestra will present Variations sur un thème de Mozart by Piotr Moss, who this year celebrates 70th birthday and 50th anniversary of artistic work. Actors of the Akt Theatre will take part in the performance The Flowers of evil according to Baudelaire's poetry with music by Robert Jędrzejewski.

Moreover, three special projects will be premiered at the Festival: To Sing Brecht with conductor Agnieszka Nagórka and actors Hanna Śleszyńska and Bartosz Bandura, Don Juan by Christoph Willibald Gluck with actors of the Warsaw Pantomime Centre and Haendel XXI with composer and pianist Nikola Kołodziejczyk, jazz vocalist Julia Sawicka and countertenor and composer Michał Sławecki.

Leszno Barok Plus is held under the patronage of President Łukasz Borowiak, and the city of Leszno is the main patron of the event. Admission to all concerts and performances is free.
