The "Polish Musicological Yearbook" publishes articles and communications from all subdisciplines of musicology, including selected proceedings from the National Musicological Conferences of the Polish Composers' Union. The journal is bilingual, with papers published in Polish and English.
The "Polish Musicological Yearbook" ("Polski Rocznik Muzykologiczny") was founded by Adolf Chybiński in 1935. In the inter‑war period only two volumes of the journal were published (the second one in 1936). To continue its tradition, in 2004 it was revived under the auspices of the Musicologists' Section of the Polish Composers’ Union. The third volume was dedicated to the memory of the founders of Polish musicology, Professors Zdzisław Jachimecki and Adolf Chybiński.
A new chapter in the history of the journal began in 2016, when it started cooperation with the PWM Edition – a prestigious publishing house specializing in the publication of sheet music and books on music.
The "Polish Musicological Yearbook" is financed from the funds of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education allocated for the promotion and dissemination of science.
