Katowice | Silesian Chamber Orchestra and Szymon Nehring

FS

Pianist Szymon Nehring will perform on 11 October 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Silesian Philharmonic. The programme will include woks by Aleksander Lasoń, Fryderyk Chopin and Richard Strauss.

The Silesian Chamber Orchestra will open the concert with Hymn and Aria for string orchestra by Aleksander Lasoń. The composer is strongly associated with Silesia and belongs to the so-called Generations '51, next to Eugeniusz Knapik and Andrzej Krzanowski. Lasoń dedicated Hymn and aria to his father Zygmunt, violinist. This work is a kind of dialogue between the two title parts – the hymn begins and ends the work, while the aria introduces a violin cantilena.

The programme will also include Richard Strauss' Metamorphosis for 23 string instruments TrV 290 and Piano Concerto in F minor Op. 21 by Frydeyrk Chopin. The soloist of the evening will be Szymon Nehring, winner of the most important piano competitions in the world – the International Chopin Piano Competition and the International Rubinstein Piano Competition in Tel Aviv.
