The Cello Students' Scientific Circle of the Academy of Music in Kraków invites you to the 7th Kraków Cello Spring, which will take place on 5-8 March  2020. The aim of this scientific and artistic event is to promote young talents and development of cello music.

The festival programme includes lectures, courses and concerts conducted by cellists from Poland and the world. The internaitonal character of the event is aimed at expanding knowledge about Polish and foreign works, as well as learning the latest trends in composing and performance. The project's programme is structured to show the cello as a versatile instrument and to interest a wide audience.The concerts of the invited cellists will contribute to the integration and development of the cello community in Poland.

The 7th Krakow Cello Spring will open with the "Cello in three scenes" concert , featuring Recitativa and the ariosa "Lerchenmusik" for clarinet, cello and piano by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki. On 6 March, there will be a concert entirely dedicated to one of the greatest composers – Ludwig van Beethoven on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of his birth. The concert on 7 March will present music of South America – works by Piazzolla, Medina and Villa-Lobos will be performed by teachers and students of the Academy under Prof. Lars Hoefs. For the first time in Europe, the Krakow audience will hear the original, recently found version of Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5 and the world premiere of two miniatures by José Medina. Elegy for cello and string quintet by Mikołaj Górecki will be performed during the final concert.
