Łódź | Symphonic concert on the 150th birth anniversary of Emil Młynarski

FL

A symphonic concert on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Emil Młynarski's birth will take place on 11 September 2020 at 7.00 p.m. at the Arthur Rubinstein Łódź Philharmonic.

The excellent violinist Piotr Pławner, together with the Łódź Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Paweł Przytocki, will perform Emil Młynarski's Violin Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 11. This work, together with the composer's Violin Concerto No. 2 in D major, Op. 16, was included in the album which received this year's "Fryderyk" award of the Polish Phonographic Academy in the category "Classical Music / Album of the Year – Concert Music" (DUX).

Emil Młynarski is most often associated with his huge commitment and contribution to the dynamic development of Warsaw's musical life at the turn of the 20th century. What is more, the number of honorable and responsible functions he would hold for years ensured him the position of an undisputed authority. Today, unfortunately, hardly anyone remembers that during his lifetime the artist was also valued for his compositional output, which is confirmed by, for example, a prestigious award he received for the Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 11. The present album perfectly fits into promotional activities of unjustly forgotten Polish music. Piotr Pławner, as the first instrumentalist in the world, decided to present Emil Młynarski's two violin concertos, which are among the most representative examples of Polish music at the turn of the 20th century

The programme of the concert will also feature Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 in B flat major, Op. 60.
