Album premiere: "Edward Pałłasz – Choral Works" (DUX)

DUXEdward Pałłasz  Choral Works presents the rich and diverse oeuvre of Edward Pałłasz in the field of choral music as performed by the Czestochowa Philharmonic Choir conducted by maestro Janusz Siadlak. The album released by DUX Recording Producers will be out for sale from 4 December 2020.

In Polish culture Pałłasz is seen as an icon of musical talent – he was self-taught in composition, which was not very popular in the 20th century. Nevertheless, with his imagination and enormous talent, he reached personal perfection in creating complex, extremely interesting musical works.

A cappella music in Pałłasz's output is a carrier of tradition (be it regional – Kashubian, or national), but also a proof of a characteristic and individual view of the composition. The latest album of the Częstochowa Philharmonic Choir is a kind of review of the composer's choral legacy  it includes both lyrical works to Osip Mandelstam's poems, Kashubian carols and sacred music.

Edward Pałłasz  Choral Works is the third in a series of DUX monographic albums by Polish contemporary composers recorded by the Częstochowa Philharmonic Choir conducted by Janusz Siadlak. Previous releases include Juliusz Łuciuk – Choral Works and Romuald Twardowski. Sacrum * Profanum, which has been recognized by the artistic community with a nomination for the Fryderyki 2020 award.

The project organiser is the Institute of Art Development. The partners are the ZAiKS Authors' Association and the Częstochowa Philharmonic.
