The second album of Walicki-Popiolek Duo, filled with modern music written by contemporary Polish composers and inspired by the richness of Polish musical folklore, will be available for preorder starting 1 February 2021.
Erach piece on the album was written especially for Walicki-Popiolek Duo, composed of pianist Aleksandra Popiołek-Walicki ang guitarist Jakub Walicki. On this disc you will find traditional Polish dances: Mazur, Oberek, Kujawiak; pieces inspired by the beauty of nature: stream of the Visual River, mountain tops of Podhale region, lakes of Mazury region; quotes from Polish folk songs: Czerwone Jabłuszko (Red Apple), W murowanej piwnicy (In the bricked basement). The CD also includes funeral songs from Podlasie region as well as references to Polish greatest composers: Chopin, Lutosławski, Tansman, Górecki, Noskowski, Szymanowski. All of this in a contemporary perspective of Aleksandra Chmielewska, Jan Oleszkowicz, Adrian Robak, Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, Robert Kurdybacha, Anna Huszcza, Kamil Pawłowski, Szymon Gołąbek, and Marcin Grabosz.
This entirely Polish project was fully financed by the "Young Poland" prestigious scholarship of the National Centre for Culture. It reaches deep into the roots of Polish musical culture and reveals its new, fresh sound. Walicki-Popiolek Duo will enable listeners to travel through Poland every time they listen to their album.
