Art / Violence / Gender – debate and concert "Art and Violence"

Fundacja 2ActA debate on "Art / Violence / Gender" and a concert "Art and Violence" make up an online social and artistic event organised on 16 April 2021 at 6.00 p.m. by the 2Act Foundation, Villa Decius Association and Villa Decius Institute for Culture. Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble will premiere the winning works of the 1st International Composers' Competition "Art and Violence".

Violence. We encounter it more often than we think. Sometimes violence has more to do with the language of symbols than with weapons. So do not seemingly distant areas such as violence and art have more in common than it might seem? Can art become a tool for contesting the existing order and a catalyst for change?

Agnieszka Draus, PhD Habil. (Academy of Music in Krakow), Iwona Demko, PhD Habil. (Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow), Dominika Kasprowicz (Jagiellonian University, Villa Decius), Radosław Nawojski (Jagiellonian University), Zuzanna Radzik (Forum for Dialogue) will participate in the online debate on art, violence and gender.

The debate will be followed by the concert featuring the premiere of works composed as part of the "Art and Violence" International Composers' Competition. The winning works by Tomasz Szczepanik (1st prize) and Valentin Schaff (2nd prize) will be presented for the first time at Villa Decius by Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble. The programme will also include other works from the ensemble's repertoire.

The concert and debate will be broadcast live on the 2Act Foundation and Villa Decius Institute for Culture Facebook pages.
