Lublin | "Conductor-in-residence" Igor Bojczuk

FLThe Lublin Philharmonic invites you on 11 June 2021 at 7.00 p.m. to a concert co-organised and co-financed as part of the "Conductor-in-residence" programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance. The Lublin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Igor Bojczuk will perform Romuald Twardowski's Old Polish Concerto alongwside works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi.

The outstanding composer Romuald Twardowski, a respected promoter of Polish culture, has never been a follower of the avant-garde. However, he used elements of new compositional techniques to create an individual style, in which references to old epochs play a significant role (in the case of the Old Polish Concerto, it is the early Baroque style). In one of the interviews, the artist spoke about his attitude to the past: “As opposed to the mad apologists who stand for all that is new at all costs, I did appreciate the role and significance of tradition, finding in it inspiration for my own music. Assuming that extremes do meet, I looked to the medieval times, to the Gregorian chant to find pieces that – when combined with the achievements of the 20th Century of composition technique (aleatorism, cluster) – would result in the desired synthesis of New and Old."

The Lublin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will also present a masterpiece for string quartet and double bass – Mozart's Serenade in G major KV 525, better known as "Eine kleine Nachtmusik", and four concertos for violin and orchestra Le quattro stagioni, or Four Seasons, Op. 8 by Vivaldi. Sulamita Ślubowska will perform as the soloist.
