The upcoming symphonic concerts on 11 and 12 June 2021, which closes the 2020/2021 Concert Season of the Warsaw Philharmonic, will be dedicated to the memory of Maestro Kazimierz Kord.
The Great Conductor and charismatic Artist held the position of the General and Artistic Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic in 1977-2001. He introduced the Philharmonic to the year of its 100th anniversary, preparing a series of wonderful concerts with the participation of the greatest stars of concert halls around the world. Under his baton, the Philharmonic ensembles have also recorded many CDs, mainly with Polish music (especially contemporary), of which Maestro has always been a great admirer and promoter. Kazimierz Kord's funeral will take place on 12 June at 1.00 p.m. in the Church of Saint Martin of Tours in Krzeszowice (1 Grunwaldzka St.).
During the June concerts, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir under the baton of Andrzej Boreyko will perform Witold Lutosławski's Funeral Music as well as works by Gustav Mahler and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The Friday concert will be broadcast on the Polish Radio Channel 2.
The Condolence Book, which will be given to the Artist's Family, is available on the Warsaw Philharmonic's webstie.
