Katowice | Closing of the 76th season of the Silesian Philharmonic: Tauron Eko Koncert

FSThe last Tauron Eko Concert in the 76th artistic season of the Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic will take place on 2 July 2021 at 7.00 p.m. The Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will perform under the baton of Yaroslav Shemet together with a wonderful soloist – pianist Anna Górecka.

The concert will take the audience to different corners of the world. We will hear the echoes of America, energetic Hungarian dances, and – thanks to Strauss' Don Juan – we will find ourselves in sunny Spain. Before this happens, however, we will discover the beauty of the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry.

The concert will open with Adam Wesołowski's Silver concerto, combining piano solo, string orchestra and multimedia with sounds and images of the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry. The work is full of symbols, such as the reference to the element of silver (Ag) by using the notes A and G and chords in A major and G major. In the melody line, we will also hear sounds describing this element: Ag (symbol), 47 (atomic number), 11 (group), 5 (period), d (block). Then we will hear Mikołaj Piotr Górecki's Capriccio for piano and orchestra, inspired by the works of the composer's father, Patron of the Silesian Philharmonic – Henryk Mikołaj Górecki. The composition was premiered in 1998 by none other than Anna Górecka and the Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted that day by Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk.
