The music of composers from Warmia and Masuria arranged for trombone will be performed at the Feliks Nowowiejski Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic in Olsztyn on 16 July 2021 at 7.00 p.m. The concert will premiere Tomasz Szymuś's Tango with variations for trombone and string quartet.
In 2020, the trombonist of the philharmonic orchestra, Rafał Krauze, received the Artistic Scholarship of the Marshal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Gustaw Marek Brzezin, for implementing the project "Popularisation of Feliks Nowowiejski's music, in particular his selected songs, commemorating the composer from Barczewo on the 75th anniversary of his death. Recording and release of an album with, among others, the composer's songs". The songs were transcribed for trombone and piano by the composer, assistant professor at the Academy of Music in Poznań, Dr Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska. The upcoming concert will featrue these arrangements as well as selected songs by Karol Szymanowski, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Stanisław Niewiadomski and Stanisław Moniuszko.
In May 2021, with the above-mentioned album in mind, the composer and arranger, Dr Tomasz Szymuś from Bartoszyce, composed a piece especially for the orchestra's trombonist. The world premiere of Tango with variations will be performed on 16 July by Rafał Krauze and the Amelior Quartet.
