"Classics Across Poland": Janusz Olejniczak and Tomasz Strahl

NIMiT Janusz Olejniczak and Tomasz Strahl will perform as part of the "Classics Acrosss Poland" series on 30 July in Chełm (Concert Hall of the I.J. Paderewski Primary and Secondary State Music School), on 31 July in Włodawa (Synagogue Complex Museum) and on 1 August in Wojsławice (St. Michael the Archangel Church).

Janusz Olejniczak is one of the most outstanding contemporary pianists and performers of Chopin's music, with over 40 albums recorded to date. He was the youngest laureate of the 8th International Chopin Piano Competition in 1970. He is an eight-time winner of the "Fryderyk" award, and for his life achievements he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2000) and the Gloria Artis Gold Medal (2005). The cello virtuoso Tomasz Strahl is a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He has made many archival recordings for the Polish Radio and Polish Television, as well as for CBC Radio in Canada. In 2019 he reveiwed the "Fryderyk" award in the Album of the Year – Symphonic and Concert Music category. The artist plays the Leopold Widhalm instrument (Nuremberg, 1778).

The world-famous instrumentalists will perform as a duo. The programme will include woks by Fryderyk Chopin and Ignacy Jan Paderewski as well as Franz Schubert, Georg Friedrich Handel, Camille Saint-Saëns, Edward Elgar and Manuel de Falla. Admission is free!

The project is financed by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, and carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
