Olsztyn | 50th PCU's Musicological Conference: "Women's Music. Women in Music"

ZKPResearchers from Polish and foreign centers will present their thoughts on women's musical culture during the three-day debate in Olsztyn on 9-11 September 2021. The 50th Musicological Conference of the Polish Composers' Union "Women's Music. Women in Music" will take place in the building of the Stara Kotłownia Exhibition Centre. The project is part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Music of the University of Warmia and Mazury.

The phenomenon of women's music, as well as their participation in the broadly understood musical culture, is a phenomenon that still remains on the sidelines. The undisputed development of research in the field of gender studies allows us to reread the background nature of women's achievements in the field of European music culture until the end of the 19th century. Echoes of women's musical past remain an important issue also in the face of contemporary challenges. All these spheres constitute an important contribution to research on female musical culture in a wide spectrum of creativity, performance, reception, and reflection on music.

The Polish Composers' Union conference will be held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Olsztyn and the ZAiKS Authors' Association. The event will be accompanied by a chamber concert on 10 September at 5:30 p.m. at the Warmia and Mazury Philharmonic, presenting works of contemporary Polish composers: Krystyna Moszumańska-Nazar, Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska and Bettina Skrzypczak.
