"Online Meetings at Composers' Union": Zygmunt Mycielski

MycielskiOn 16 December 2021 at 4 p.m the Polish Composers' Union will host an online meeting devoted to the life and work of Zygmunt Mycielski (1907–1987).

Zygmunt Mycielski – composer, writer and music activist – studied at the École Normale de Musique in Paris with Paul Dukas and Nadia Boulanger. He was active in the Association of Young Polish Musicians in Paris, of which he was the President. Then he returned to the country and took up composing, criticism and music journalism. He was the editor-in-chief of "Ruch Muzyczny", he co-edited "Res Facta", "Rocznik Chopinowski" and "Chopin Studies". He was the President of the Main Board of the Polish Composers' Union.

Mycielski, his compositional and literary output, as well as activities aimed at preserving and promoting his musical and literary works, will be the subject of a discussion between the invited guests: Prof. Grzegorz Oliwa, PhD, Barbara Mielcarek-Krzyżanowska, PhD, Michał Klubiński and Marek Zagańczyk, writer, essayist and publisher. The meeting will be chaired by the Chair of the Musicological Section of the Polish Composers' Union, Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska, PhD.
