Bydgoszcz | International Conference "Composers and Background Music"

AMThe Faculty of Composition, Theory of Music and Sound Engineering, the Department of Theory of Music and Composition, and the Department of Sound Engineering of Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz will host an international conference "Composers and Background Music" which will take place on 27-28 April 2022 in a hybrid or fully remote form. The abstract submission deadline ends on 31 December 2021.

Looking at the various forms and application fields of music understood as an art useful to the society, we observe the many problems associated with this subject: composer's workshop, art's functions, values held by the music piece, artistic dilemmas, modern techniques allowing creation of music according to the made assumptions - simulatnously indicate the research subjects which will be discussed during the conference.

Authors whose submissions are accepted will be notified by e-mail. The presentation's duration should not exceed 20 minutes. The conference will be held in Polish and English. Due to the current pandemic situaition, the conference will be held fully remotely or in a hybrid form. The conference organisers foresee to publish the articles presented at the confernece with the publishing house of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.

The conference will feature a concert "Divertimenti. Music Not Less Important", which will be held on 27 April 2022 at 7.00 p.m. at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. The programme will include works by Witold Lutosławski and Roman Maciejewski performed by teachers and students of the Academy.
