Warsaw | 'Dracula' Ballet with Wojciech Kilar's music: Polish premiere of the Krzysztof Pator's performance

Meet love at the first… bite… Krzysztof Pastor's gothic ballet romance with music by Wojciech Kilar will finally arrive to Warsaw after the Australian success. The Polish premiere of the costumed ballet 'Dracula' about a feeling that lives even after death will take place at the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera on April 28, 2022 at 19.00.

Dracula with music by Wojciech Kilar and choreography by Krzysztof Pastor became a ballet sensation of 2018. The performance was commissioned by West Australian Ballet and had its world premiere in September 2018 in Perth. West Australian Ballet wanted to have in its repertoire a ballet adaptation of the horror novel by Bram Stoker Dracula (1897) and its Oscar-based adaptation from 1992, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, to which Wojciech Kilar wrote the music. The theater turned to Krzysztof Pastor with this proposal, who in his dramatic concept decided not to refer only to Coppola's film, but to show more of Wojciech Kilar's music. The performance is therefore based on a carefully and precisely prepared score (Michael Brett), that consists of various pieces by the Polish composer. From the portfolio of his film music, themes were taken from The Promised Land, Leper, Chronicle of Amorous Accidents, Wherever You Are, Jealousy and Medicine. And from the achievements of classical music - fragments of Kościelec 1909, Symphony No. 5 "Advent" and the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra.
