Katowice | 17th edition of the Polish Promotion Festival 'August of Talents'

SierpienTalentow 23The 17th edition of the Polish Promotion Festival 'August of Talents' will take placeon August 20–31, 2023. Traditionally, we will first meet in Kościuszko Park to close the ‘Music Promenade’ cycle with a vocal concert and at the same time inaugurate the Festival. Subsequent events will take place at the Radio Katowice Concert Studio and the City of Gardens chamber music hall.

The ‘Vocal Promenade’ will feature the winners of the Monika Swarowska-Walawska International Vocal Festival and Competition: Zuzanna Wrona – soprano, Mingxuan Chen – tenor and Grzegorz Rubacha – baritone, with piano accompaniment by Bogusława Suchanek.

Łódź | GD->ŁDZ: Electrø-acøustic cøncert

GD LDZ 22.8.23GD->ŁDZ. Electrø-acøustic cøncert is a new project created by two young composers from Gdańsk Jakub Pawlak and Szymon Wieczorek which will be presented at the Ignorantka Club in Łódź (Legionów 22) on the 22nd of August, 2023 at 20.00.

It is an artistic concept based on three stages of destruction of individual.

Warsaw | 16th Summer Festival of the New Town 2023

Every year Polish music lovers gather at the Summer Festival of the New Town which takes place in the welcoming interiors of St. Jack church in Warsaw in the last days of August.

Included in the programme will be: chamber, solo, vocal, early and orchestral music. This year’s festival is taking place from the 24th of August to the 2nd of September and features 6 concerts, which will be held over 2 weeks on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m.

We will hear: Grażyna Bacewicz Quartet, Royal String Quartet’s interpretation of Paweł Szymański’s compositions, Piotr Maszyński’s songs performed by mezzosoprano Lilianna Zalesińska accompanied by Jolanta Pszczółkowska-Pawlik on the piano, young talented saxophonists from NEMESIS quartet. Early music lovers will enjoy the performance of early music ensemble from Cracow Musica Graziosa that will perform a programme entirely consisting of polonaises. We will be able to listen to little-known compositions of Andrzej Nikodemowicz performed by Dominika Falger, the Wiener Symphoniker member and pianist Gajusz Kęska who will perform Henryk Wieniawski’s compositions. The finale of this year’s edition of the Festival will be presented by Warsaw Camerata with Paweł Kos-Nowicki and Marcin Zdunik.

Admission to all concerts is free. Project is co-founded by the Capital City of Warsaw

Wejherowo | 3rd ArteFonie: 'ObserwARTorium' Music Festival

ArteFonie 23The Association of Young Artists of the Wejherowo Region and Art'n'Voices VocalEnsemble invite you to Wejherowo for the 3rd edition of the music festival ArteFonie – ‘The ObservARTory’, which will take place from the 7th to the 10th of September 2023.

ArteFonie is a musical stop on the map of northern Poland. Its idea is to present a widespectrum of classical music, with a particular focus on new trends in this genre. This year's edition is titled ‘The ObservARTory’. The space of ArteFonie will become an observatory - a place where you will be able to see new, extraordinary phenomena on the canvas of contemporary art.

The festival will open on the 7th of September with a concert by the group Kropki, performing alternative music. The artists will present an original blend of classical sounds based on acombination of piano and double bass with electronic accompaniment.

Białystok | ‘Ecie-pecie’ performance on the 80th anniversary of the death of Zygmunt Białostocki

Ecie 12.8.23The premiere sentimental performance ‘Ecie-pecie’ on the 80th anniversary of the death of Zygmunt Białostocki will remind us of the somewhat forgotten works of the outstanding composer of the interwar period, born in Białystok, who died in the Warsaw Ghetto.

On the 12th of August, 2023 at 18.00, in Białystok's TON Cinema (Rynek Kościuszki 2), the singer Dariusz Wójcik (author of the script and director of the show), Szaweł Lipski Klezmer Quartet and dancers from Twist Białystok - Ballroom Dance Studios will perform. Free tickets are available at the St. Kazimierz at the ‘TON’ Cinema.

Katowice | Tickets to the finals of the 2nd Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition now available

On the 5th of September, 2023, the auditions of the 2nd Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition will begin. Tickets for the final stages of all four categories and the awards gala are now on sale. Free tickets to the 1st and 2nd rounds of the auditions will be available soon.

103 soloists and 13 string quartets were qualified to the competition. The Director of the Competition agreed to admit a larger number of participants than stated in the regulations.

Zielona Góra | 7th CORNO – Brass Music Festival

The 7th CORNO Brass Music Festival - the only festival of this type in Poland - will take place on August 14-19, 2023, as always in Zielona Góra. During six classical and jazz concerts, brass instruments will again play the main role: French horn, trumpet, trombone and tuba. We will also hear the Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dizzy Boyz Brass Band and the Chilean-Colombian band Los Pitutos.

Toruń | 3rd Young Music Festival 'Hommage à Mikołaj Kopernik'

FestiwalMlodejM 23The third edition of the Young Music Festival will again promote the work of young artists and artists associated with the Kuyavian-Pomeranian region and Toruń. On September 22 - October 1, 2023, new, electroacoustic and jazz music will be presented, meetings, workshops, a competition and an exhibition will take place. Most of the events will be dedicated to Nicolaus Copernicus on the occasion of the 550th anniversary of his birth, celebrated in 2023. Free entrance!

Soloists, ensembles and two orchestras will perform, including the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of the Polish Radio conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal and the Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Toruń's conductor Rafał Kłoczko. The concerts ‘Music of Toruń composers’ and ‘Morning of Copernicus, or Electroacoustics for Copernicus’ will feature world premieres of works by: Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, Magdalena Cynk, Adam Falenta, Maria Krzemień, Maciej Jabłoński, Piotr Moss, Mateusz Ryczek, Jędrzej Rochecki, Michał Ossowski and Paweł Dudzik.

Warsaw | 2nd Mokotów International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music Festival

MokotowskiFestiwal 23The 2nd Mokotów International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music will take place on August 13-27, 2023 at the National Sanctuary of St. Andrzej Bobola. The programme of the three concerts includes a wide range of musical literature - vocal and instrumental, from the early Baroque to contemporary music. Admission to the events is free.

This year's edition will open with a concert featuring the winner of the 48th and 50th Fryderyk Chopin Piano Compettion in Warsaw, semi-finalist of the 18th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition - Piotr Alexewicz, who will perform a selection of Chopin's Preludes Op. 28 and Waltzes Op. 64. The artistic director of the Festival, organist Sebastian Kuczyński, will present contemporary Polish organ music.

In the interpretation of Dariusz Wójcik, the director of the Open Theater in Gdańsk, we will hear not only Polish vocal lyrics, but also poems by Stefan Wyszyński and fragments of Karol Wojtyła's poem Mother.

Poznań | Opera returns to Fredry street!

The Grand Theater in Poznań has started online ticket sales for the first three months of the new artistic season. After more than two years of renovation of the stage, it invites you to performances in the building at Fredry Street. The theme accompanying the 2023/2024 season is #RETURN. Nearly 140 events have been planned.

The upcoming season will be opened by the first edition of the Stanisław Moniuszko Festival, the patron of the Poznań opera scene. The first and most important event of the season will be the opening gala with Artur Ruciński

The premiere of the ballet The Snow Queen with music by Przemysław Zych and choreography by Robert Bondara will take place on the 27th of October. At the turn of February and March, the festival ‘Przedwiośnie baletowe’ is planned.

Composition Competition ‘Rumina – 800’

The aim of the Composition Competition ‘Rumina – 800’ is to enrich the achievements of music culture with new works created on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the first mention of Rumia. The deadline for submitting scores is the 20th of September, 2023.

The subject of the competition is a composition to Kazimierz Nowosielski's Pieśn pochwalna (Song of Praise). The choice of performers, instruments or vocals is free. Duration of the piece - up to 17 minutes.

For the seventh time, the micro-concerts of WarszeMuzik - one of the most original festivals on the cultural map of Warsaw - will take place on August 5-27, 2023 in unusual locations of the capital. Admission to all events is free.

Throughout August, on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, we will hear the music of the festival's patron - Mieczysław Weinberg - and other Polish composers of Jewish descent in tenement houses in Warsaw's Wola district and at the Umschlagplatz Monument. Those will be Ignacy Friedman, Szymon Laks, Aleksander Tansman, Andrzej Czajkowski and Karol Rathaus. As during previous festivals, there will also be works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Maurice Ravel and Felix Mendelssohn. The final concert of the festival will take place at Teatr Studio of S.I. Witkiewicz.

The programme of the project also includes historical walks around the former Northern District, led by Agnieszka Kuś, and a bicycle trip prepared by Paweł Łęczuk.

Concert cycle 'Muzyka na wagę' 2023

The Silesian Chamber Music Society invites you to a series of concerts ‘Muzyka na wagę’, which will take place from July 29 to August 27, 2023 in Bytom, Będzin, Tarnowskie Góry and Czerwionka-Leszczyny. The key to all events of this artistic eco-project are plastic caps, which are, in a way, an admission ticket.

The concerts will take place at the Mieroszewski Palace in Będzin, the Palace in Miechowice, the Palace in Rybna, the Cultural and Educational Center in Czerwionka-Leszczyny and the Park at the Castle in Leszczyny. ‘Tickets’ (caps) will be collected before entering the concert and handed over to the city's ‘baskets-hearts’.

The repertoire of concerts has been designed in a way that whole families can participate: the programme includes Polish contemporary music and film music (including works by Wojciech Kilar, Henryk Kuźniak, Andrzej Kurylewicz, Jerzy Matuszkiewicz, Dariusz Zboch), a musical fairy tale, masterpieces of classical music, Neapolitan and operetta arias from the repertoire of Jan Kiepura, and a musical marriage of classical with electronic beat.

Warsaw | 'Folk traditions' - theme of the 5th International Music Festival of Central and Eastern Europe ‘Eufonie'

Eufonie 23The 5th International Music Festival of Central and Eastern Europe ‘Eufonie’, organized by the National Center for Culture, will take place on November 17-25, 2023. The main theme of this year's festival will be folk traditions that reflect national identity and are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists. During ‘Eufonie’, they will be presented in a classical, experimental and jazz approach, as well as in a traditional form - thanks to the Olza Song and Dance Ensemble and Kapela Lipka.

Renowned orchestras and outstanding soloists will take part in this year's edition, including BBC Symphony Orchestra, whose performance will initiate the Festival, Łukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski together with Rebel Babel Orchestras, Vadim Gluzman, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, Thomas Sanderling, Anna Sułkowska-Migoń, Zsolt Nagy, Hover State Chamber Choir. During the final concert performed by Sinfonia Varsovia, the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir and the Poznań Boys' Choir conducted by Zsolt Nagy and we will hear the monumental Lauds by Krzysztof Penderecki; the soloists will be Bożena Bujnicka, Agnieszka Rehlis, Rafał Bartmiński, Tomasz Konieczny and Volodymyr Tyshkov.
