Zielona Góra | 65th Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers - final concert

On the 26th of April, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. during the final concert held for the first time at the Zielona Góra Philharmonic the winners of the 65th Jubilee Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers will be announced.

Works of the finalists will be premiered by the Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maciej Tomasiewicz. Recognized violinist Agata Szymczewska will perform as a soloist. The president of the Polish Composers' Union, Dr. Mieczysław Kominek, will attend the concert.

Strzyżowskie Music Society in Wiśniowa, named after Zygmunt Mycielski invite musicians, performers, composers, musicologists, scientists, writers, poets, critics and music publicists to participate in a new project - the Residence. Zygmunt Mycielski.

The residence aims to restore the memory of the artist from Wiśniowa by referring to his music and literary writings. The deadline for submitting applications is the 15th of June, 2024.

Lusławice | Bacewicz International Summer Music Academy 2024

This year's edition of the BISMA Bacewicz International Summer Music Academy will be held at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Center for Music in Lusławice on September 8-15, 2024. The Academy is intended for pianists - students and graduates of music universities and for particularly talented students of music secondary schools. The deadline for submitting applications is the 12th of July.

Master classes during the Academy will be conducted by: Dmitri Alexeev and Claudio Martinez-Mehner (group I) and Oliver Schnyder and Ilya Maximov (group II).

3rd Elżbieta Chojnacka Harpsichord Competition

The Artistic Education Center in Warsaw announces the 3rd Elżbieta Chojnacka Harpsichord Competition, which will take place at the Fryderyk Chopin Music School in Bytom on May 16-17, 2024. The competition is intended for students of primary and secondary music schools. The deadline for submitting applications is the 30th of April.

The originator of the competition is Dr. Aleksandra Gajecka-Antosiewicz - the heir of Elżbieta Chojnacka, a recognized Polish harpsichordist. The competition's programme formula presents harpsichord literature in two trends: old (the obligatory piece by J. S. Bach) and new. The primary goal of the project is to popularize the performance of harpsichord music of the 20th and 21st centuries, including works by Polish composers (mandatory repertoire), and instruments - historical and contemporary.

The competition will certainly awaken passion for performing new music. It will be accompanied by lectures and meetings between students and teachers.

The competition jury includes recognized Polish harpsichordists and composers.

Katowice | Jubilee Gala of Classical Music "Fryderyk 2024"

Fryderyk Gala 24The 30th Classical Music Gala as part of this year's Fryderyk Festival will take place on the 28th of April 2024 at the headquarters of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. The Fryderyk Award Ceremony will be accompanied by performances by outstanding Polish musicians. There will also be Polish music, an opera accent and dance rhythms. The soloists will be accompanied by the NOSPR under the direction of Łukasz Borowicz.

Marta Gidaszewska and Robert Łaguniak, who together form the internationally acclaimed Polish Violin Duo, will perform Two contrasts for a duo by Anna Rocławska-Musiałczyk, who last year received the ZAiKS Award for composer of the young generation at the Gala of Classical Music.

Szczecin | 5th Szczecin Classic

Szczecin Classic 2024The mysterious, intuitive and inspiring Festival will thrill Szczecin inhbitants for the fifth time, this time crossing the boundaries of the senses. West Pomerania's largest classical music festival SZCZECIN CLASSIC titled "6 Senses" will take place from the 27th of April to the 3rd of May 2024. Musicians will play on the strings of imagination during five unique concerts. In addition, accompanying events are planned as part of the "Maltówka" series.

Diverse ensembles, from duos to the great festival orchestra, a varied and surprising programme, full of great names: both composers and performers. World-famous artists, soloists and leaders of leading European orchestras will perform: Vasko Vassilev, Daniel Stabrawa, Jakub Jakowicz, Emanuel Salvador, Andriy Viytovych, Konstantin Heidrich, Piotr Szumieł, Janusz Widzyk. Young performers who will practice during the Szczecin Classic Academy master classes will also take part in the concerts.

Wrocław | Bolero – final of the NFM Orchestra Academy

The concert concluding this year's edition of the NFM Orchestra Academy will take place on the 27th of April, 2024 at 6 p.m. It will be attended by NFM instrumentalists, participants of two orchestral academies - from the NFM and Staatskapelle Berlin, and will be led by Jong-Jie Yin from China, winner of the 11th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Conductors' Competition. Kazakh violinist Meruert Karmenova will perform as a soloist.

The programme includes Bolero by Maurice Ravel and Cuban Overture by George Gershwin.

Winner of the 2nd  rize at the 16th Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition will perform the 2nd Violin Concerto of the patron of the competition, one of his most popular compositions. After the break, artists will perform Henryk Wars' suite Sketches of the City, written in the early 1950s after the composer's emigration to the United States of America.

Cracow | Cracow Philharmonic: Concert on the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union

Beauty, sublimity and message: two masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, which have gone down in high musical culture as works-symbols, will be performed on the 26th of April, 2024 at 7.30 p.m. at the Cracow Philharmonic during a concert celebrating the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union.

Beatus Vir Op. 38 by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and the 9th Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven will be performed by the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, the Social Choir of the Cracow Philharmonic, the Boys' and Girls' Choir of the Cracow Philharmonic, and the Ukrainian Children's Choir of the Cracow Philharmonic conducted by Alexander Humala. The soloists will be Mariusz Godlewski - baritone, Iwona Sobotka - soprano, Anne-Lise Polchlopek - mezzo-soprano, Benjamin Bruns - tenor and Yuriy Yurchuk - baritone.

Wocław | Violin recital of Meruert Karmenova

Recognized violinist, Meruert Karmenova, winner of the second prize in the last edition of the International Henryk Wieniawsji Violin Competition in Poznań, will present on the 25th of April 25, 2024 at 7.00 p.m. at the National Forum of Music, a repertoire consisting of romantic works and works from the beginning of the 20th century.

We will hear the Polonaise in D major by Henryk Wieniawski, which brought her the greatest fame, as well as Violin Sonata No. 2 by Edvard Grieg and works by Karol Szymanowski and Eugène Ysaÿe. The piano part will be performed by Michał Francuz.
