"The Haunted Manor", which will be heard this time at the Berlin Philharmonic, has for years brought comfort and hope for defeating the invaders, and has also been a musical record of the difficult Polish history. The concert version of the opera will be performed by renowned soloists, including: Ruslana Koval (Hanna), Gosha Kowalinska (Jadwiga), Piotr Kalina (Stefan) and Stanislav Kuflyuk (Miecznik). Marco Guidarini, an Italian conductor, a great admirer of Moniuszko's work, who began his adventure with Polish music with "The Haunted Manor" will lead the performance.

Warsaw | Final of the 2nd Hashtag Ensemble Young Academy

HashtagLab 20 4 24Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

For the second time, students playing violin, cello, viola and double bass took part in the free Hashtag Ensemble Young Academy workshop. At the end of the workshop, they will perform at the final concert at the Hashtag Lab on the 20th of April 2024 at 2 p.m. and receive diplomas!

Music school students are very rarely exposed to contemporary music. Thanks to the Young Hashtag Ensemble Academy, which was created by violinist Marta Piórkowska, first- and second-degree music school students found out that new music means a lot of interesting works and mysterious performance techniques. Beginning in October, a group of nine students met on Saturday mornings to learn new repertoire, to hum in chamber ensembles, and to improvise without fear of evaluation.

KonkursKlawesynowy 16 5 24Media patronge: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

The Artistic Education Center in Warsaw announces the 3rd Elżbieta Chojnacka Harpsichord Competition, which will take place at the Fryderyk Chopin Music School in Bytom on May 16-17, 2024. The competition is intended for students of primary and secondary music schools. The deadline for submitting applications is the 30th of April.

The originator of the competition is Dr. Aleksandra Gajecka-Antosiewicz - the heir of Elżbieta Chojnacka, a recognized Polish harpsichordist. The competition's programme formula presents harpsichord literature in two trends: old (the obligatory piece by J. S. Bach) and new. The primary goal of the project is to popularize the performance of harpsichord music of the 20th and 21st centuries, including works by Polish composers (mandatory repertoire), and instruments - historical and contemporary.

The competition will certainly awaken passion for performing new music. It will be accompanied by lectures and meetings between students and teachers.

The competition jury includes recognized Polish harpsichordists and composers.

Olsztyn | „Conductor-resident”: Martyna Zych and Aleksandra Świgut in the Warmian-Masurian Philharmonic

DyrygentRezydent 19 4 24Martyna Zych's conductor residency at the Warmian-Masurian Feliks Nowowiejski Philharmonic in Olsztyn in the 2023/24 season is underway as part of the National Institute of Music and Dance "Conductor - resident" programme. On the 19th of April at 7 p.m. in the Philharmonic Concert Hall, as part of the residency, there will be a concert featuring Czech and Polish music. Aleksandra Świgut, an excellent pianist and lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin Music University, will perform as a soloist.

The artists will perform the immortal Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11 by Fryderyk Chopin. Much has been written about this work - not least because it is one of the few works that our national piano poet composed for a symphony orchestra.

There will also be three dances from the opera The Bartered Bride by Bedřich Smetana - the elegant and delicate Polka, the joyful Furiant and the lively and at the same time surprising Skočna - and the Sinfonietta by Leoš Janáček, which he himself called "military".

The Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, the Wrocław Chamber Players and the National Forum of Music invite you to the final concert of the Wrocław Chamber Players Forum on the 21st of April 2024 at 12.30 p.m. at the NFM. Piotr Sałajczyk, Szymon Krzeszowiec and Arkadiusz Dobrowolski, or the Wajnberg Trio, will present youthful works of the great composers Andrzej Panufnik and Erich Korngold.

The Piano Trio Op. 1 was composed by the only nineteen-year-old Panufnik in 1934. After the Second World War, the composer reconstructed from memory the score of this romantic style work, which was burnt down in composer’s Warsaw flat during the Warsaw Uprising. This was Panufnik's first major compositional achievement: the Warsaw Conservatory student Mieczysław Wajnberg participated in the premiere of the Trio in 1936.
