Warsaw | 2nd Polish Saxophone Congress

On November 23-25, 2018, the 2nd Polish Saxophone Congress will take place at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.

The Polish Saxophone Congress is a music festival which aims to present and analyze Polish scientific and artistic achievements in the field of saxophone music and to integrate and stimulate saxophone community in our country. The Congress programme includes a scientific conference, five concerts, meetings with composers, a methodological meeting with teachers, saxophone interpretation workshops, a presentation of publications and an exhibition of instruments and accessories.

Participation in the congress was announced by leading Polish saxophonists, representatives of almost all academic centers in our country, as well as artists who work abroad on a daily basis and young adepts of saxophone art. The concerts will premiere works by Marian Borkowski, Wojciech Chałupka, Artur Cieślak, Michał Grabowski, Olga Hans, Anna Maria Huszczy, Marcin Kopczyński, Kamil Kosecki, Krzysztof Koszowski, Jakub Muras, Jacek Sotomski and Łukasz Woś. The artistic director of the event is Paweł Gusnar.

Warsaw | Concert on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Sinfonia Viva Orchestra

Sinfonia Viva Orchestra under the baton of Tomasz Radziwonowicz and violinist Voytek Proniewicz will perform on November 22, 2018 at 7.00 p.m. at the W. Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the orchestra.

Sinfonia Viva Orchestra constantly takes on new challenges by playing any kind of music – from film themes to jazz, through carols, contemporary music, but also the most famous symphonic works, oratorios or cantatas. Their record output is over 50 recorded albums of various genres, and many of them have been honored with prizes and awards, including the Golden Orpheus Award of the French Academy du Disque Lirique for the recording of Pasquale Anfossi – Oratorio "La morte di San Filippo Neri" in 2015.

During the jubilee concert, the orchestra will perform Miscellane, Op. 16 No. 2 by Ignacy Jan Paderewski, arranged by Tomasz Radziwonowicz, Orawa by Wojciech Kilar, Concerto for string orchestra by Grażyna Bacewicz, and also Violin concerto by Tomasz Radziwonowicz. Acclaimed violinist Voytek Proniewicz will perform as a soloist.

Bydgoszcz | "100 years of Independence" Concert

The Ignacy Jan Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz invites you to the concert "100 years of independence", which will take place on November 21, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. For those who love organ works, it will be an attractive evening – filled with the sound of powerful philharmonic organ.

The programme will include: Metasinfonia (Symphony No. 7) for solo organ, timpani, and strings by Andrzej Panufnik, Serenade for string orchestra by Mieczysław Karłowicz, and Toccata from Organ Symfony in F minor, Op. 45 No. 9 by Feliks Nowowiejski. Japanese organist Mari Fukumoto will sit at the organ. Capella Bydgostiensis Chamber Orchestra will be conducted by Maciej Koczur, a PhD student at the Music Department of the Academy of Music in Kraków.

Gliwice | Gliwice Chamber Orchestra in the "Master interpretations" concert

The Gliwice Chamber Orchestra Foundation invites you on November 18, 2018 at 6.00 p.m. to the Bajka Stage – Amok Cinema (3 Dolnych Wałów St.) for the annual concert from the series "Master interpretations".

The aim of this concert cycle, organised since 2005, is the presentation of outstanding works of chamber and symphonic music, with the participation of renowned soloists and conductors accompanied by the Gliwice Chamber Orchestra.

During the November concert, Cello concerto in C major hob. VIIb by Józef Haydn will be performed by an excellent soloist, chamber musician and Sinfonia Varsovia cello leader –Marcel Markowski. Additionally, at the request of the organizers, the soloist will play in the Gliwice Chamber Orchestra as the cello leader in the second part of the evening. In the Concerto for violin and cello RV 547 by Antonio Vivaldi the second soloist will be a GOK concertmaster and an acting leader of the Sinfonia Varsovia second violins – Kamil Staniczek. The Gliwice Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Paweł Kotla will also perform Old Polish Suite by Andrzej Panufnik and Symphony No. 29, KV 201 (186a) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Polish music for children in the sounds of clarinet and piano

In December 2018 and March 2019, The PianoClassic Art Association invites you to concerts as part of the project "Polish music for children in the sounds of clarinet and piano".

The project of clarinetist Barbara Borowicz and pianist Anna Miernik "Polish music for children in the sounds of clarinet and piano" is realized by the Krakow Artistic Association PianoClassic in cooperation with the Life & Art Foundation. Both artists are involved in the promotion of Polish music in the country and abroad. The purpose of their latest project is to familiarize students of first-level music schools with chamber music by Polish composers.

The event will take place in December 2018 and in March 2019 at music schools in Domosławice (04/12/18), Korzenna (06/12/18), Lubaczów (11/12/18), Skawina (March 2019) and Wadowice (March 2019).

The programme includes interpretative courses for students, a lecture about Polish music with particular emphasis on the role of clarinet and piano, clarinet exhibition with accessories and a lecture on the subject of clarinet maintenance conducted by Tomasz Cyzowski from the renowned Piotr Śmietana Brass Instruments Service. The finale of each day of the project in a given school is a concert of Polish music performed by the organisers.

Polska muzyka chóralna zabrzmi w Argentynie

Collegium CantorumPolska muzyka chóralna zabrzmi w listopadzie 2018 roku w jednym z największych miast Ameryki Południowej, stolicy Argentyny – Buenos Aires.

Wykonawcą koncertów zorganizowanych przez Instytut Rozwoju Sztuki będzie Chór Filharmonii Częstochowskiej Collegium Cantorum pod dyrekcją maestro Janusza Siadlaka. Zespół zaprezentuje publiczności w Buenos Aires perły naszego dziedzictwa muzycznego. W repertuarze Collegium Cantorum, przygotowanego na tournée, znalazło się miejsce dla utworów Wacława z Szamotuł, Szymanowskiego, Wiechowicza, Pendereckiego czy też Łukaszewskiego i Widłaka. Polski zespół da koncerty między innymi w Kongresie Narodowym, a także w najważniejszej świątyni Buenos Aires – Catedral Metropolitana.

„Polska muzyka chóralna zasługuje na sławę na całym świecie, a szczególnie w Argentynie, która jest domem dla wielu naszych rodaków. Tym bardziej cieszy nas, że zespół będzie mógł zaprezentować ją w prestiżowych przestrzeniach” , mówi Janusz Siadlak, dyrektor chóru Collegium Cantorum. Podczas intensywnych dni, jak zapewniają organizatorzy, artyści nie zapomną o argentyńskiej Polonii.

Podczas wizyty organizatorzy i artyści spotkają się z przedstawicielami największych organizacji polonijnych w Argentynie (Związek Polaków w Argentynie, Polska Misja Katolicka, Argentyńsko-Polskie Stowarzyszenie Kulturalne), a także z członkami klubów i domów polskich w Buenos Aires i Santa Fe.

Sponsorem projektu „Patriotyzm Nieśmiertelny” jest PKN Orlen. Zadanie współfinansowane w ramach sprawowania opieki Senatu Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej nad Polonią i Polakami za granicą w 2018 roku.

Kolonia | Koncert Jubileuszowy Zygmunta Krauzego

Unless28 listopada 2018 roku w kolońskiej Kunststation St. Peter o godz. 18.00 odbędzie się Koncert Jubileuszowy Zygmunta Krauzego związany z 80-tą rocznicą urodzin kompozytora.

W programie znajdą się utwory jubilata (Poemat Apollinaire’a, Quatuor pour la naissance), temA Helmuta Lachanmanna oraz nowy utwór Marcina Stańczyka pt. Unseen (2018) na głos, zespół i elektronikę.

Utwór Unseen jest trzecim z kolei, w którym kompozytor proponuje publiczności założenie opasek na oczy i doświadczanie dźwięków bez udziału zmysłu wzroku. Letnie przesilenie, równonoc, to szczególny czas, z którym od wieków wiąże się wiele mitów i wierzeń. W całej niemal Europie obchodzono dawniej święto natury, ognia, wody, równowagi żywiołów i miłości. Kulminacją obrzędów związanych z równonocą był rytuał poszukiwania magicznego kwiatu, w Polsce zwanego „kwiatem paproci”. Zerwanie go miało zapewnić znalazcy szczęście, bogactwo i powodzenie, a w razie niebezpieczeństwa – niewidzialność. Tytuł utworu odzwierciedla więc jego program. Unseen został zamówiony przez E-Mex Ensemble i Ministerstwo Kultury i Nauki Nadrenii Północnej-Westfalii.

Kompozycje zaprezentuje wspomniany niemiecki zespół E-Mex Ensemble, zaś partię solową wykona znakomita Agata Zubel.

Koncert organizowany jest przy współpracy z Instytutem Polskim w Düsseldorfie, niemieckim radiem Deutschlandfunk oraz Polskim Wydawnictwem Muzycznym.

Wstęp na koncert jest wolny.

Warsaw | 14th International Contemporary Music & Visual Arts Festival "Mózg Festival"

Mozg14th International Contemporary Music & Visual Arts Festival "Mózg Festival" will take place on November 21–24, 2018 in Warsaw.

International Festival of Contemporary Music and Visual Arts „Mózg Festival” is an encounter of artists who work and create in all areas of contemporary music as well as performance art and multimedia installations where music plays an important part. Artists who participate in the festival come from all around the world. In the years 2016-2018 each edition of the festival had a motto, which directed the attention to problems emerging in the modern world. In 2018 the topic of the festival is: "Spirituality is everywhere".

The Warsaw edition of the Festival, which began on September 22 in Bydgoszcz, will be opened on November 21 with a projection of two films: Sherlock Holmes and people of tomorrow, which was made by a student of Bogusław Schaeffer, contemporary music composer Tomasz Gwincinski, and Zen for nothing, directed by Werner Penzel with the music of the illustrious Fred Frith – the artist who has been cooperating with the director for many years and was an inspiration for many events in the history of the Festival.

On November 22, Krzysztof Gruse will open his installation at the DZiK Club. November 23 will feature the performance Spirituality is universal (John von Sturmer / Krzysztof Gruse / Sławek Janicki) and concerts of Szymon Gąsiorek & Kresten Osgood and outstanding Eli Keszler & Rashad Becker – masters of modern electronics and avant-garde, legendary experimental scene. The festival will end with musical performances of selected artists associated with the Dym Records publishing house in Gorzów. As part of the festival's guiding motto, the presented works will be a personal attempt to interpret the phenomenon of spirituality through sound.

Wodynie | Mazovian Musical Meetings without Barriers

The fifth concert of the cycle "Mazovian Musical Meetings without Barriers" will take place on November 17, 2018 at 6.00 p.m. at the Municipal Cultural Center in Wodynie.

The concert programme includes string quartets from different epochs: String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 13 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, VIII String Quartet in C minor, Op. 110 by Dmitri Shostakovich and selected works for string quartet by Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The works will be presented by The Time Quartet, composed of graduates of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw: Maksymilian Grzesiak (I violin), Katarzyna Boniecka (second violin), Aleksandra Demowska-Madejska (viola), Małgorzata Duź (cello).

The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Composition Commissions" programme implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance. Admission free!
