Agata Pyzel-Tondera,
composer; b. 4th February 1964 in Warsaw. She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in 1990, where she studied music theory and composition with Włodzimierz Kotoński. For one year she studied with Dietrich Acker at the Hochschule für Musik in Munich (1989). She took part in courses for composers in Kazimierz Dolny, Radziejowice, Darmstadt, Avignon and Rheinsberg.
For a 3rd-year student of the E. Młynarski Middle Comprehensive Music School in Warsaw she composed a Fantasy, performed in 2013 by Julia Tondera (violin) and the school orchestra conducted by Ewy Marchwicka. Her composition Kaleidoscope for flute and orchestra commissioned as part of the "Collections-Composing Commissions" programme implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance (a commission for solo instrument with orchestra) was performed on 7th November 2015 in the Karol Szymanowski State Comprehensive Secondary Music School in Wrocław by Marta Dzięcioł and the school orchestra under Jacek Rogala.
Agata Pyzel-Tondera was a co-organiser of the 4th Gdańsk Encounters of Young Composers "Droga" (1994).
She is also a music educator. In 1998 she founded the "Nutka" music school, where she teaches piano improvisation. Since 1986 she has also taught the same subject at the Fryderyk Chopin State Secondary Music School in Warsaw.
