Jakub Chrenowicz,

conductor, b. 1986 in Poznań. In 2010 he graduated with honours in symphonic and opera conducting from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in the class of Professor Jerzy Salwarowski. As an LLP/Erasmus scholarship holder, he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt-am-Main, and also won a scholarship from the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, studying with Gianluigi Gelmetti (Summer Academy, Siena). In 2016 he received his Ph.D. degree from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw (supervised by professor Antoni Wit). He leads the conducting class at the Academy of Music in Poznań and serves as Director of the Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra.

Jakub Chrenowicz has conducted such ensembles as the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Simfonica Gran Teatre del Liceu, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Kammerorchester Berlin, Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Capella Bydgostiensis as well as the majority of Polish symphony orchestras (including the Poznań Philharmonic, Łódź Philharmonic, Bydgoszcz Philharmonic, Cracow Philharmonic, Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, among others).

From 2010 till 2012 Jakub Chrenowicz served as Assistant Conductor with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under Antoni Wit. In the 2012/13 season he was the First Conductor at the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Bialystok. The 2011/12 season saw his debut in the Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw, where he was the musical director in the premiere performance of the Polish National Ballet's Biblical Parables (Prokofiev, Panufnik, Bach, Pergolesi). In the following seasons, he conducted a range of opera and ballet performances (including Stanisław Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor and Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring).

In October 2013 Jakub Chrenowicz conducted the orchestra and choir of the Gran Teatre Liceu in Barcelona in their performances alongside the Polish National Ballet. In May 2015 he was the musical director of Casanova in Warsaw, choreographed by Krzysztof Pastor; he also contributed the musical concept for the piece. He also conducted ballet performances at the Łódź Grand Theatre (including Strawiński's The Rite of Spring, Minkus's Don Kichot), the Wrocław Opera (Leo Delibes's Coppelia), and the Gliwice Music Theatre (Johann Strauss II’s Fledermauss).

Jakub Chrenowicz has collaborated with a number of outstanding soloists, including Alexander Gavrylyuk, Daniil Trifonov, Yulianna Avdeeva, Soyoung Yoon, Dang Thai Son, Peter Jablonski, Jadwiga Rappé, Olga Pasiecznik, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Piotr Paleczny, and Bartłomiej Nizioł, among others.

He received distinctions and awards in international conducting competitions and courses, including: the award for the best participant of the National Conducting Course, taught by Jerzy Salwarowski and accompanied by Częstochowa Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (2007), as well as the award for the best participant of the of the International Course for Conductors in Ciudad de Torrevieja (Spain) in the same year. He reached the semi-finals of the M. Malko International Conducting Competition in Copenhagen (2009). In 2016 he was the recipient of the Jan Kiepura Theatre Musical Prize in the “Best Conductor” category.

In 2017/2018 season Jakub Chrenowicz took up the position of First Conductor with the Koszalin Philharmonic.
