Warsaw | Improvisation workshop ‘Tell me a fairy tale' 2023 in Ursynów

On the 3rd of June, 2023 at 11.00 in the Local Activity Center Kłobucka 14 in Warsaw, improvisations will once again take place. The Polish Society for Contemporary Music in cooperation with the Society for the Development of Children's Activity ‘Szansa’ will organize classes there for children aged 3-8 and their parents, during which you will be able to get to know contemporary music and, together with professional musicians, take part in playing with improvisations and books.

The workshops will be led by improvisers: drummer Leszek Lorent, composer and pianist Jarosław Siwiński and double bass player Małgorzata Kołcz. Children will learn various techniques of extracting sound that emphasize its color and dynamic qualities, and will also be able to play the percussion instruments themselves.

Participation in the workshops is free of charge - the number of places is limited, therefore prior registration of participants is required. Classes last about 90 minutes with a short break. Applications can be submitted in two ways:

Katowice | Silesian Quartet: Mieczysław Wajnberg – all string quartets – following a dedication

On the 3rd of June, 2023 at 18.00 NOSPR invites you to a concert of an ensemble that is not afraid of challenges! As part of the project ‘Mieczysław Wajnberg - all string quartets - following a dedication’, the Silesian Quartet will show us how fascinating the world of Weinberg's chamber music is and will present the composer's 10th, 8th and 13th String Quartets.

The Silesian Quartet undertook the monumental task of recording all of Mieczysław Weinberg's string quartets and was awarded the ‘Fryderyk’ this year as well.

In the current season, the Silesian Quartet offers a unique programme of concerts, which was devoted to the presentation of these works in Katowice. The concert will be led by Prof. Marcin Trzęsiok.

Wrocław | 14th Leo Festival

The main role during the 14th Leo Festival on June 1-4, 2023 will be played by the chamber orchestra of the National Forum of Music.

At the inauguration of the Festival, the Leopoldinum Orchestra will perform two works by composers from Poland and Austria - Witold Lutosławski and Heinz Karl Gruber - alongside two timeless symphonies by Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Katowice | Silesian Philharmonic: Rossini, Wesołowski and Mendelssohn

On the 2nd of June, 2023 at 19.00 at the Silesian Philharmonic, we will have the opportunity to imagine one of the wonders of the world thanks to the Overture to Gioacchino Rossini's opera Semiramide. The concert for flute, saxophone and orchestra Archangels by Adam Wesołowski will take us to the world of celestial beings, and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's Symphony No. 1 will let us learn about the early period of the genius composer's work. The Symphony Orchestra of the Silesian Philharmonic conducted by Marek Wroniszewski and the soloists Łukasz Długosz and Piotr Baron invite you to an evening of great impressions.

Adam Wesołowski's concerto for flute, saxophone and orchestra was premiered on the 3rd of December, 2022. In this colorful work, in which the composer used special articulation techniques, we will hear not only the instrumental layer, but also the vocal layer, reminiscent of angelic choirs: musicians of the orchestra will sing!

The 25th Piano Competition in Kłodzko will take place on the 2nd of June, 2023 at the Fryderyk Chopin Music School in Kłodzko (Tadeusza Kościuszki 8 street). Auditions and the Winners' Concert are open and admission is free!

The performances of young pianists will be assessed by the Jury composed of: Prof. Grzegorz Kurzyński (chairman of the Jury), Prof. Cezary Sanecki, Prof. Kinga Firlej-Kubica, Michał Michalski.

The Elbląg Chamber Orchestra invites violinists, violists, cellists, guitarists, conductors and chamber ensembles to the Elbląg Music Masterclass. The deadline for submitting applications is the 31st of May, 2023!

On July 1-9, a number of various events will be organized, tailored specifically to the needs of students of primary and secondary music schools, students and graduates of music academies. Participants will take part in courses, workshops, lectures, perform during recitals and concerts.

Master classes will be conducted by such recognized artists as Igor Petrushevski and Mariusz Patyra (violin), Marek Czech (viola), Marcel Markowski (cello), Krzysztof Meisinger (guitar), Alexander Humala (conducting), Bogna Czerwińska-Szymula (chamber ensembles).

An important element is the Young Virtuoso Competition. Participants of the 2nd stage and winners of the Competition will perform together with the Elbląg Chamber Orchestra.

Programme of the 23rd Franciszek Wybrańczyk  Sinfonia Varsovia to its City Festival, which will last from the 30th of May to 20th of June, includes 4 symphonic concerts, 2 concerts of brass bands, 2 recitals and 2 family mornings.

The repertoire will be filled with classical, film, musical and improvised music. Among the invited artists are Elisaveta Blumina, Krzesimir Dębski, Ewa Pobłocka, Anthony Romaniuk and Aleksandra Świgut.

The meeting will take place on Monday, 29th of May 2023, at 2.00-3.00 p.m. After a short presentation, there will be a Q&A session with the project consortium representatives and coordinators.

The deadline for submission of applications is the 15th of June, 2023.

We invite all the interested composers to participate in an online information meeting on the open call for applications within the ‘Renewable Music. V4 Composers for Sustainability’ project.
