Łódź | 73rd Session „Musica Moderna”

Musica moderna

The 73rd session "Musica Moderna", a series of events dedicated to contemporary music that has been organized for over 30 years by the Academy of Music in Łódź, will last until December 6, 2018.

Polish contemporary music will be performed by the Belgian ensemble Exprezz Duo, Agata Zubel, Cezary Duchnowski, Aleksandra Gajecka-Antosiewicz and young artists from Łódź.

On December 3rd, Exprezz Duo will premiere Quasi alla tango by Sławomir Kaczorowski, which was commissioned by the "YES – Current Culture" Foundation under the programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage "Composing Commissions" 2018, implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance. Traditionally, young performers will present works by students of composition class of the Łódź Academy of Music. They will also present Little Rituals Here and There by Yihan Chen, who won the 2nd prize in the American competition for young composers – 39th Annual Young Composers̕ Competition 2017, National Association of Composers / USA, NACUSA. We also recommend presentations of the Electronic Music Computer Studio – pieces created under the supervision of Jacek Partyka.

This year Zygmunt Krauze celebrates his 80th birthday. On this occasion, as part of the Session, a meeting with the Jubilarian "On art, composition, travel and more" and a monographic concert will take place. The final accent of the session will be the presentation of the works by Wrocław composers entitled "A word in a dialogue with music ...".

All events will take place at the Academy of Music in Łódź. Admission is free.
