New Year’s Eve Gala in Wrocław

rScena Kamienica Theatre in Wrocław (15 Lelewela Str.) will host 2 New Year’s Eve performances on December 31, 2016.

The concerts will be performed by Liza Wesołowska (soprano), Katarzyna Haras (mezzosoprano), Tomasz Maleszewski (tenor), Magdalena Jaszczak (piano), and Kinga Augustyn (violin) who will interpret fragments of famous operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, and Stanisław Moniuszko, as well as excerpts from musicals and operettas (such as Die Fledermaus, The Csárdás Princess, The Bird Seller, The Merry Widow), csárdáses and virtuoso works for violin. Additionally, a special show will be presented by the soloists of the Wrocław Ballet Academy.

All members of the audience will be invited to join the New Year’s Eve reception held during concert intermissions.

New Year’s Concert at the Łódź Philharmonic

kSoprano Karina Skrzeszewska and the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under José Maria Florêncio will give a special concert on January 1, 2017 in Łódź.

The artists will present fragments of famous operas, operettas and musicals, written by such artists as Stanisław Moniuszko, Frederick Loewe, Franz Lehár, George Gerswhin, Leonard Bernstein, Giuseppe Verdi, Johann Strauss, Giacomo Puccini, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and others.

Koncert muzyki filmowej na UMFC

u11 stycznia 2017 roku w Sali Koncertowej Uniwersytetu Muzycznego Fryderyka Chopina (ul. Okólnik 2) o godz. 19.00 odbędzie się koncert muzyki filmowej.

Wystąpi Big Band UMFC pod kierunkiem Piotra Kostrzewy – kotlisty i perkusisty orkiestry Sinfonia Varsovia, założyciela Szymanowski Young Power, prezesa Fundacji Sinfonia Varsovia. W programie koncertu znajdą się tematy muzyczne ze słynnych filmów w aranżacjach bigbandowych. Zabrzmią również kompozycje polskich twórców, między innymi muzyka do filmów Stawka większa niż życie, Czterdziestolatek autorstwa saksofonisty i kompozytora Jerzego Matuszkiewicza oraz fragmenty ścieżki dźwiękowej stworzonej przez muzykologa i kompozytora Henryka Kuźniaka na potrzeby produkcji Vabank. W roli solistów wystąpią Barbara Kurdej-Szatan oraz Rafał Szatan.

Bilety w cenie 15 zł, które można kupić również przez Internet, znajdą się w sprzedaży od 5 stycznia 2017 roku.

Patronat medialny nad Koncertem objęło również Polskie Centrum Informacji Muzycznej.

s Soprano Ewa Tracz, mezzosoprano Magdalena Pluta, baritone Łukasz Skrobek and the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under Jacek Rogala will give a special concert on December 31, 2016 at 6.00 pm in Kielce.

The artists will perform fragments of famous operas, operettas and musicals, such as The Magic Flute and The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti, Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Carmen by Georges Bizet, Faust by Charles Gounod, Flis by Stanisław Moniuszko, My Fair Lady by Frederick Loewe, The Merry Widow by Franz Lehár, and other works.

National Forum of Music / New Year’s Eve Concert

nNFM Symphony Orchestra and pianist Jan Lisiecki under Daniel Raiskin will perform a New Year’s Eve concert on December 31, 2016 in Wrocław.

The programme includes Concert Overture in E major Op. 12 by Karol Szymanowski, Piano Concerto in A minor Op. 16 by Edvard Grieg and Symphony No. 9 in E minor Op. 95 "From the New World" by Antonín Dvořák. The solo part will be interpreted by Jan Lisiecki - Canada-born pianist of Polish descent who signed an exclusive recording agreement with Deutsche Grammophon in 2010, while the artists will be conducted by Daniel Raiskin - former chief conductor of the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic in Łódź (2008-2015).

"The Man from Manufaktura" / opera excerpts - premiere

cThe excerpts of the opera The Man from Manufaktura will be presented for the first time on January 5, 2017 at the Grand Theatre in Łódź.

The concert is one of the stages of the Opera Composition Competition (subject: 2-hour opera The Man from Manufactura to the libtretto by Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk), which gathered 40 applications from composers all over the world. By December 20, the jury will select 3 finalists who will be invited to prepare the public performance of the opera’s fragments scheduled for January. The fragments will be performed by soloists (special guest of the evening will be mezzosoprano Małgorzata Walewska), mixed choir and orchestra of the Grand Theatre in Łódź under Wojciech Rodek.

The performance will be a subject to the jury's and audience's voting (on-line voting available by January 29, 2017), as a result of which 2 composers will be admitted to the final stage of the competition. The world premiere of the complete work will be held in November 2018 at the Grand Theatre in Łódź.

The performance will be recorded and broadcast on the Internet and in Manufaktura Centre.

Jury members: Krzysztof Penderecki, Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, Elżbieta Penderecka, Urszula Kryger, Maciej Tworek, and Wojciech Rodek.

New composition by Szymon Godziemba-Trytek

cNew work entitled Hodie scietis, quia veniet Dominus by Szymon Godziemba-Trytek will be premiered by the Polish Radio Choir during the Christmas concert held on December 30, 2016 in Katowice.

The artists under the baton of Szymon Wyrzykowski, joined by the soloist Joanna Słowińska (white voice), will perform also carols arranged by Marek Jasiński for 8-voice choir a cappella. The concert is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage ("Composer-in-residence" programme implemented by the Institute of Music and Dance and "Polish Radio Choir - Musical Dedications" project).

Andriessen Archipelago – final concert

X 10th edition of the "Purchase of New and Waste Sounds – Sound Republic" project will be concluded with a concert on December 20, 2016 at the Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw.

The project is organized by the Polish Society for Contemporary Music. During 5 open workshops held between December 10 and 19, the participants worked under the guidance of members of the Mud Cavalier and focused on preparing a performance of a composition designed formally as De Staat by Louis Andriessen, learned to work collectively on the piece, engage in effective teamwork, and get acquainted with various aspects of contemporary music. The final outcome of the workshops will be presented during the concert.
