The year 2009 brings round anniversaries related to two major Polish composers – the 100th birth and 40th death anniversary of Grażyna Bacewicz (5th February 1909 – 17th January 1969) and the 100th anniversary of the tragic death of Mieczysław Karłowicz (11th December 1876 – 8th February 1909). 
Numerous music centres in Poland have planned various anniversary events – concerts and lectures. We would like to invite you to the first of these: in Warsaw Philharmonic – a concert dedicated to Grażyna Bacewicz during the 13th Lutosławski Forum (14th – 20th February 2009) and concerts commemorating the figure of Mieczysław Karłowicz (6th – 7th February 2009), as well as a concert which promotes a new Karłowicz CD recorded by the Tatra Mountains Climatic Orchestra (Zakopane, 7th February 2009). Another element of the Karłowicz celebrations is the "Karłowicz Month” organized by the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin in February 2009 to commemorate the 100th death anniversary of their patron.
