"Nature" is the theme of the 22nd edition of "La Folle Journée" Festival. One of the greatest festivals in the world popularising classical music will be held in France between January 29 and February 7, 2016. Sinfonia Varsovia and the Polish Chamber Orchestra will perform 27 concerts in the Pays de la Loire region and Nantes.
The French edition of the international "La Folle Journée" Festival traditionally began in the Pays de la Loire region (January 29-31). This year, the festival is hosted by 11 cities, with Sinfonia Varsovia and the Polish Chamber Orchestra performing in 8: La Roche-sur-Yon, Cholet, Saumur, Saint Nazaire, Sablé-sur-Sarthe, Challans, Laval and La Flèche. Next, from 3 to 7 February, Nantes will host more than 300 concerts, conferences and educational workshops.
Together with violinist Sayaka Shoji the Polish Chamber Orchestra will perform, among others, Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, also playing the recomposed version by Max Richter. Sinfonia Varsovia’s repertoire will include such works as Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, Pablo Casals’ Song of the Birds, Justin Heinrich Knecht’s Portrait musical de la nature, Joseph Haydn’s oratorio The Creation, symphonic poems: Bedřich Smetana’s Vltava and From Bohemia’s Woods and Fields, Zygmunt Noskowski’s The Steppe, Isao Matsushita’s concerto for percussion and orchestra Hi-Ten-Yu (featuring soloist Eitetsu Hayashi) and Karol Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1 played by Anna Maria Staśkiewicz. The Orchestra will be conducted by Grzegorz Nowak, Robert Trevino,Daniel Reuss and Lio Kuokman.
Selected concerts will be broadcast by the French ARTE television channel.
Subsequent editions of this international event will be held in Japan, Russia and Poland.
