6th National Scientific Conference "Neofonia"

nThe Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań will host 6th National Scientific Conference "Neofonia" on December 12-13, 2017. The event will be accompanied by the Intercollegiate Composers' Concert and Concert of Young Artists and Performers.

The theme of this year's edition – "A child and contemporary music" – leads to reflection on the presence of a child in contemporary musical culture, both as a performer, receiver and creator. During the two-day debate, students from universities in Kraków, Łódź, Poznań, Warsaw and Wrocław will debate issues related to contemporary music dedicated to children, the perception of new music by younger audiences, the synthesis of music with other media (fairy tale, animation, film), and the possibilities of using music of our time in didactics.

On the first day of the "Neofonia" in the Aula Nova of the Poznań Academy of Music, the Intercollegiate Composers' Concert will be held, during which chamber works of young generation artists representing Polish and European music academies will be performed. Also, a number of accompanying events that refer to the main theme of this year's edition are planned. On the first day of the conference, the inaugural lecture will be given by Hanna Gawrońska (Children's Art Center in Poznań), on the second day there will be a seminar with Jarosław Kordaczuk, composer of music for children and youth. A unique event will be the Concert of Young Artists and Performers, during which we will hear songs of young composers performed by children's orchestras and chamber ensembles. A discussion panel with young artists and their teachers will take place shortly after.

The event is held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the I. J. Paderewski Acadecmy og Music in Poznań and the Mayor of Poznań. Its organizer is the Artistic and Scientific Circle of Students of Composition and Music Theory of the Academy of Music in Poznań.
