On March 1, 2018 at 10 p.m. at the Lutoslawski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio in Warsaw there will be an extraordinary concert during which the cult composition of Terry Riley In C will be performed by Polish musicians.

We will hear the All-Stars Orchestra conducted by Hubert Zemler composed of: Maciej Cierliński – hurdy-gurdy, Tomasz Duda – saxophones, Maja Kleszcz – voice, cello, Wojtek Krzak – violin, lute, Marcin Masecki – piano, Marta Maślanka – cymbals, Miłosz Pękala – cymbals, Dagna Sadkowska – violin, Joanna Halszka Sokołowska – voice, Wojtek Traczyk – double-bass, Mateusz Wachowiak – Polish three-row harmony, Michał Zaborski – viola, Piotr Zabrodzki – organ and celesta, Wacław Zimpel – clarinets.

The In C score is written on one sheet. It's actually a kind of table with fifty-three short themes. Each looks different: from single-sound to the more "complex" ones. According to the composer, the music of In C has to "flow": each of the performers should move from one module to another at their own pace. Everything depends on the instrument, but also the mood of the moment: tensions and emotions.

Fifty years ago, in 1968, the first recording of Riley was made. This was done by a nine-member band conducted by the composer, composed of members of the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts at the State University of New York at Buffalo. After 50 years from the phonographic premiere, Polish musicians propose a new version of this iconic song. The All-Stars Orchestra under the direction of a drummer and composer Hubert Zempler, want to give Riley's "cells" a local color.

Tickets available at: www.sklep.polskieradio.pl and at the counter before the concert.
