Nearly 60 speakers from all over Poland will participate in the 5th National Scientific Conference from the series "Contexts of Music Education", organized by the Department of Music Education at the Music Academy in Łódź on March 1-2, 2018. The main theme of this year's edition covers theoretical and practical aspects of music education. The conference will be held at the Chamber Hall of the Łódź Academy of Music.
The goal of the conference is to create a scientific platform for the exchange of views, thoughts, experiences, research results and practical solutions aimed at improving the quality of music education of children and youth, as well as vocational education of music teachers. The conference will be a broad, interdisciplinary debate serving the exchange of views of representatives of science and culture.
Speakers from Polish universities, schools and cultural institutions will discuss topics related to, among others, art therapy, stage fright, the importance of competitions in music education or musical development of a child in the prenatal period. The personality, as well as emotional and social determinants of professional musicians will be discussed, and the school and non-school reality of music education will be analyzed. Issues related to didactic values of works by Polish composers of the 20th century will be also addressed.
As part of the Conference, there will be a concert of the male vocal ensemble The Singing Heads, whose conductor is Mariusz Lewy – a young titled choirmaster, a graduate of the Music Academy in Łódź. The concert of works by such composers as Mieczysław Karłowicz and Jan Maklakiewicz will take place on March 1 at 6.30 p.m. in Hall 12 at the Palace of the Academy of Music (32 Gdańska Street). Admission free.
The honorary patronage over the Conference was taken by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Rector of the Academy of Music in Łódź.
