Marta Chlebicka is the Young Musician of the Year 2018

Brawurowym wykonaniem Concertino na flet i orkiestrę D-dur op. 107 Cécile Chaminade zachwyciła jurorów i publiczność podczas finału prestiżowego konkursu, który odbył się 20 marca w Studiu Koncertowym Polskiego Radia im. W. Lutosławskiego.

Marta Chlebicka is the winner of the Young Musician of the Year competition. A bravura performance of Concertino for flute and orchestra in D major, Op. 107 by Cécile Chaminade delighted the jurors and the audience during the finals of the prestigious competition, which took place on 20 March 2018 at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio.

17-year-old Marta is a student of Zenon Brzewski School of Music in Warsaw in the class of prof. Beata Kierzkowska. She began to study flute at the age of seven. She studied with such teachers as: prof. dr hab. Antoni Wierzbiński, prof. Barbara Świątek-Żelazna, dr Agata Igras-Sawicka, prof. zw. dr hab. Elżbieta Gajewska-Gadzina. She perfected her skills at many master courses, including with Łukasz Długosz, Peter-Lukas Graf, Maria Caroli, Janos Balint, Carlos Bruneel, Dejan Gavric. She is a scholarship holder of the scholarship programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage "Young Poland", the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage for artistic achievements and the National Fund for Children. She is a laureate of dozens of national and international competitions in Poland and abroad. She has performed in many prestigious halls both in Poland and abroad, like the Odeon Theater in Bucharest, the University of Music in Vienna.

The winner of the Young Musician of the Year 2018 contest, which is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Institute of Music and Dance, received a prize funded by the Minister of Culture in the amount of PLN 20,000, the prize funded by the director of the Center for Artistic Education dr Zdzisław Bujanowski in the amount of PLN 15,000, and will also have a performance with the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, funded by the director of the orchestra, Anna Kościelna. Marta Chlebicka will also represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest for Young Musicians, which will take place on 23 August 2018 in Edinburgh. 18 instrumentalists will take part in the competition. Young musicians will accompany the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Thomas Dausgaard. The final of the competition will be broadcast on TVP Kultura.
