Lodz | Santander Orchestra Concert

fl

On 28 March 2018 at 7.00 p.m. at the Artur Rubinstein Lodz Philharmonic the Santander Orchestra will perform works by Zygmunt Noskowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski.

The founders of the Santander Orchestra are Bank Zachodni WBK and MyWay Foundation, which implements the project with the support of the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center. Thanks to the Santander Orchestra, young artists from all over the country have the opportunity to improve their skills under the guidance of excellent conductors and tutors, who are recognized in Poland and abroad. From 2015 young musicians performed under the direction of Krzysztof Penderecki, John Axelrod and Jerzy Maksymiuk, playing in the most prestigious and modern concert halls in Poland, including the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin or the NOSPR concert hall in Katowice. On the special invitation of Mrs. Elżbieta Penderecka, the orchestra also performed at the 20th Jubilee Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Lusławice and Warsaw. In the autumn of 2016, talented artists recorded their first album, which featured pieces by Fryderyk Chopin and Antonin Dvorák. The conductor was José Maria Florêncio, and the orchestra was accompanied by Krzysztof Książek on the piano. The album was released on 30 November 2016.

During the concert in Łódź, the Santander Orchestra under the direction of world-class conductor Lawrence Foster – music director of the Opera de Marseille – will perform the symphonic poem Step by Z. Noskowski, Polish Fantasy in G sharp minor, Op. 19 by I. J. Paderewski and Symphony No. 3 in D major, Op. 29 by P. Tchaikovsky. The pianist Łukasz Krupiński will perform as a soloist.
