Łódź | "Pianos of Freedom" – Mazurkas and sonatas

Soundedit

In the year commemorating the centenary of Poland regaining independence, the Soundedit Festival invites you to unique concerts that take place in surprising locations in Łódź. On September 22 at 4.00 p.m. at the MS2 Art Museum (19 Ogrodowa St.) and on September 23, 2018 at 1.00 p.m. at the Andel's Hotel (17 Ogrodowa St.) we will hear Aleksander Dębicz and Rozalia Kierc.

Ten pianists, ten composers, ten occasions to celebrate a special anniversary. This project is more than a series of public concerts. It is also a journey through the history of Polish culture of the last ten decades enchanted in the scores of great copmposers. Aleksander Dębicz will play mazurkas by Karol Szymanowski, considered one of the greatest Polish composers. Chopin's inspirations beautifully strike here with the rough twentieth-century harmony and sharp sound with the climate beloved by the composer Podhale. The next day, Rozalia Kierc will present the neoclassical piano sonatas by Grażyna Bacewicz and Witold Lutosławski.

The project is financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the long-term "Independent" programme for the years 2017-2021.
