Kraków | Polish Radio Choir: Madrigals

CPR

Madrigals of early and contemporary masters like Luca Marenzio, Claudio Monteverdi, Morten Lauridsen and Agata Zubel will be performed during the next edition of the Music Salon of the Polish Radio Choir at the Villa Decius. The concert will take place on November 4, 2018 at 5.00 p.m.

"Madrigal is one of the most elitist and fascinating genres in the history of music, a subject to constant evolution. It is a close marriage of words and music, where the affects included in the text shape the musical form and narrative" – said Maria Piotrowska-Bogalecka, artistic director of the Polish Radio Choir. During the Sunday concert at the Villa Decius, we will hear compositions by the Mannerist masters: Luca Marenzio (Piango, che Amor) and Claudio Monteverdi (Luci serene e chiare, Si ch'io vorre morrire) in comparison with the madrigals of contemporary artists: Morten Lauridsen (Luci serene e chiare, Amor, and sento l'alma, Se per havervi oime) and solo madrigals by an outstanding Polish composer Agata Zubel (Madrigals).

The compositions will be performed by the Polish Radio Choir directed by Maria Piotrowska-Bogalecka. The concert and meeting with artists will be hosted by Magdalena Łoś-Komarnicka.
