PWM Edition opens its archives to all those thirsty for music. On Sunday evenings the institution will premiere video materials presenting the work and figure of Mieczysław Karłowicz on it's YouTube channel.
On the 140th anniversary of the birth of Mieczysław Karłowicz PWM Edition initiated a project "Let's play Karłowicz", which included a series of concerts featuring Karłowicz’s music, performed throughout Poland. The project was inaugurated on 2 December 2016 at the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin.
The inaugural concert, recorded by PWM Edition in cooperation with the Philharmonic in Szczecin and TVP S.A., will have its online premiere on 3 May 2020 at 7 p.m. on the PWM Edition YouTube channel. In addition to Stanisław and Anna Oświecim and A Sorrowful Tale symphonic poems, performed by the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Rune Bergmann, the concert also features selected Karłowicz's songs arranged for soprano, big band and orchestra.
A week before, on 26 April at 7 p.m., an online premiere of a documentary film about the composer will be held on the PWM Edition YouTube channel. Mieczysław Karłowicz – Lonely Wanderer, directed by Tomasz Knittel and produced by PWM Edition in cooperation with TVP S.A., was awarded with the Silver Pegasus at the 22nd Art Films Review in Zakopane.
Moreover, fragments of the awarded PWM Edition publication with Karłowicz's photographs of Tatra mountains (Widok piękny bez zastrzeżeń. Fotografia tatrzańska Mieczysława Karłowicza) will be available at the institution's profile on the ISSUU platform on 22 April.
