Tadeusz Baird Competition for Young Composers (formerly known as the Youth Competition of the Polish Composers' Union) has been organized annually since 1958. Its aim is to help young Polish composers launch their careers and to encourage their independent activity. This year, the main prize – the Tadeusz Baird Award of USD 2500 for further composition studies has been funded by the PZU Foundation. Honorable mentions are financed by the Polish Composers' Union Management Board. The subject of the Competition in 2019 was a composition for 1 to 4 saxophones.

The upcoming concert will feature works that have been qualified for the second stage: Nemesis (Phoenix emblem), Me and another one (Aditolek emblem), Fala pomarańczowo-zielona (Ówsanalin emblem), O pewności (Mercilles Efficiency emblem), Limitation (Don Giovanni emblem) and Ukwiał pustelnik (Matricaria chamomilla emblem). The compositions will be performed by The Woop Group, FCUM Quartet and Brzewski & Szymanowski Saxophone Quartet. The final verdict of the jury will be announced after the concert.

The event is organized by the Polish Composers' Union in collaboration with the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music and the ZAiKS Authors' Association from the funds of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as part of the 'Music' programme.
