Sławomir Wojciechowski about composing music by artificial intelligence – online meeting

NOSPRSławomir Wojciechowski, one of the most interesting contemporary Polish composers, will give a lecture entitled "Rhapsody in Deep Blue. About composing music by artificial intelligence" on 28 October 2020 at 7.00 p.m. at the headquarters of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice.

The event is part of the project "Cultural Youth Choices" implemented by the NOSPR in cooperation with the Wojciech Korfanty Institute of Polish Thought as part of the "Very Young Culture" project. During the meeting, we will explore the relationship between music and technology. The NOSPR AI application is available on the website https://ai.nospr.org.pl/. It is an innovative project initiated by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, which uses advanced artificial intelligence to talk about music. Thanks to the implementation of the Watson Assistant solution by IBM Services, NOSPR brings the experience of communing with a symphony orchestra online. The well-known composer and lecturer Sławomir Wojciechowski will share his comments on the prospects of using AI in music.

"A computer wrote his first string quartet in 1957. Twenty years later, it created quite successful imitations of the works of great classics. Today it is setting itself more ambitious goals. For example, it can understand the "emotional temperature" of our times and to prove it, it writes a song that hits the top of the charts 48 hours after its premiere. So we are dealing with an undoubtedly intelligent and useful machine, which, however, we are becoming more and more afraid of" – emphasize the organisers. Is artificial intelligence able to compete with people in the areas of creativity, art, culture, and will it be the one who composes masterpieces of the 21st century?

NOSPR invites you to a meeting on the website www.nospr.org.pl, FB profile and on YouTube.
